NAD! JCM 800 KK Sig!

I know, I know...this amp has plenty of haters. Saw one on the local Craigslist for cheap and thought I should try it out...pleasantly surprised! It's not a metal amp at all..just sounds like how I usually set up an 800..built in eq mid bump and a very good noise gate IMO. Gonna throw in some 6550s and see what that gives me..playing it next to my 2 other JCMs and this one sits right in the middle tone-wise. I think it sounds better than the AFD I tried a few weeks ago..cool amp!

Congrats. I would say generally Slayer doesn't use a modern, high gain sound. I would never mistake this for a "metal" amp outside of the cosmetics. I personally like the KK.

Just goes to show that you really have to trust your own ears and try stuff out before you write it off because of something you might have read. I've been through plenty of modded Marshalls and others..and this KK is as good as most of the amps I've had.

Yes exactly..the Jube has It's own thing going on, still one of my faves. But this KK is like a good sounding 800 with a good boost already built in..and a good noise gate as well.

very under-appreciated amp,....I have one,...don't bother with the 6550's,.....save your money and get some better pre-amp, & power tubes, GOLD LIONS (KT 88's)... beg, borrow or steal a bias meter, (I bias all my amps shamefully hot) ..slam the front of it with a clean boost,..(I have an old BOSS, rack mount, chorus, besides the rack mount tuner it's the only thing in the signal path),....it loves GREENBACKS,.. the big glass is an excellent platform for as brutal as ya wanna get.

Well too late lol..already ordered some 6550s. I like the 88s though..I already have some good amperex and chinese pres to use. I also do my own biasing..what do you bias yours at? I'm at 38 right now..

I have a Decimator pedal and the KK gate seems to work in a similar fashion...feels ok to me..

Congrats on the new amp. Can you go into more of how it differs sound wise from the jubilee? I have played a 2 channel jcm800 combo, but never a single channel jcm800 or the kk version....
