Here we go! It finally arrived tonight. I've been playing with it for about an hour so far and I will say, at this point, I am totally in love. Of course it's the honeymoon phase, so take it with a grain of salt, but I am just ridiculously impressed already. The clean channel is great - like others have said, you can't really get it break up which is exactly what I like. It may not have as many options for different clean sounds as a Mark V does but it still sounds pretty damn close to the "Fat" option in my opinion and is still top notch.

As far as the gain channels go - that's where I believe this thing destroys my Mark V. Don't get me wrong I do love the Mark V, but the biggest complaint I always had was you couldn't get it to sound super fat. To me, it always sounded a little thin. I don't think you could even try a setting on the JP-2C that makes it sound thin. This thing sounds FAT. All the chords are crystal clear but much more raw and brutal than the Mark V. The single notes on both gain channels are fat and never feel thin - there is just more weight to them than what I was used to and I really liked it.

The first gain channel is definitely a little more raw and crunchy sounding than the second channel but over all I'd say the marketing is spot on that they're mostly the same besides a little smoother/more gain on the red channel. Another mega plus on this amp: I can dial in a perfect rhythm and lead sound and don't have to give up anything to do that. I need a few more hours messing around with it but, so far, I think the Mark V is going up for sale...

EDIT:

Clips!

Best one with full mix - https://soundcloud.com/matthew-boehm/ov ... 1928-cover

Short one w/ just guitars (first ever recording, quality is alright) - https://soundcloud.com/matthew-boehm/jp2cdemo

That transformer just looks impressive. Congratulations .... It's a great amp.

Do you have the same Loop issue as Superunknown had?

I haven't tested the loop issue out through my actual cab but I tested it out through my Torpedo Live which is at volume and, while I heard it, it's super minor and if I was playing live with it I doubt anyone in the audience would notice it. I'm sure if I tested it with the same settings as Superunknown it would have been much more drastic. Definitely something that doesn't bug me.

Thread needs some fighting and arguing. Congrats.. :gethim:

I'd rather have a 5153 50.

Says someone who isn't me.

exactly how I felt about the V. This really makes me want to try the JP! Congrats

Congrats on the new amp.

Curious which one works better at low volumes between the JP2C and the mark V?

First off, right on, on getting an amp you dig.

I did find it funny your comments about the Mark V being thin as I was playing mine today and the whole time I was loving how big and punchy it sounds.

But I do use an attenuator so I can get the master up.

Man, I wish these weren´t $4500 here in Europe

I'm sure you could persuade someone here to get one and send it to you.

Someone actually direct messaged me on this question and I will say I think the JP2C is actually better at lower volumes. I had some concerns myself with no master volume and being in a tiny apartment but the scaling that they did on the volume works PERFECTLY. Seriously, it sounds near as good on whisper-quiet volumes as it does very loud through my Torpedo Live.

Ya I definitely get what you mean and I think it's all just subjective taste with it. I've seen it be 50/50 on people who think the V is thin and people who don't. It's a killer amp, no doubt, but I think for now the 2C is the one I'm keeping between the two!
