Hey guys, new to this forum and figured I'd post my latest acquisition from today and some amp porn.

First one I've seen in my area for sale, I've had pretty much every amp you can think of and this thing is the greatest piece of gear I've ever touched.

Great pics!
But we need more analysis...how does the JP compare to the EVH blue channel?

the JP is a killer head...super crushing tones.

Congrats! I love mine too. It has a such a nice feel and tone to it when playing leads. Fat, articulate, and searing at the same time.

Congratulations, bro… A friend of mine play one last week and said the same thing… I would expect he will own one in the next few days, Hehehe - I have not played one as of yet but I look forward to it!

The JP is definitely the better sound for my playstyle. It's so ridiculously massive yet articulate sounding, especially with the wet-dry setup I got going, add a little flange to the top cab and play some big open 7 string chords.

The shred mode is really cool if you cut the gain right down for rhythms. It's not really useful for leads, not sure why it's called shred when even Petrucci advocates it's usage for rhythm not leads.

The lead tones are liquidy and smooth. Definitely the best lead tone I've worked with, I always struggle to get lead tones that suit me even with some great amps, this thing just nails it.

The EVH is more of a fun amp, I wouldn't really use it for recording much but it's a heck of a lot of fun to play. I redid all the cabling in that room today and was testing some cables with the EVH plugged in and 2 hours later I realized I was still testing the first cable. I find the moment I turn it on I'm stuck playing Van Halen riffs, and I'm not even a Van Halen fan by any stretch.

Both amps are very forgiving, something I'm not used to with my VHTs, I can pretty much play horribly and sound great using them. Whether that's a good thing or not is up for debate but it's nice to take a break from the ultra dry tight tone of the VHTs and have a more "fun" tone to play with.

Great amp, congrats man.

Ive had mine for a few months and play it more than my other amps, im really happy with it.
