This is cool because I haven't been giddy over a new gear purchase in a long time!! I love this amp. It was in a local shop for about four days the owner tells me. I didn't bother playing when I first spotted it but rather started doing my homework on them. Then I played it. Done. Picked it up used but in new condition for $1,100. First thing I did when I got it home was remove the chasis, inspect the guts, etc. Pristine. Still stock tubes - though I went ahead and biased them...can't imagine how much more it can improve when I drop some quality glass in there.

This was the final youtube clip that pushed me over the G.A.S edge...

Only reason I don't have a clip here is because I'm literally overwhelmed at the moment, the amount of different Marshall crunch tones within', I mean they're all seemingly in there, some to a greater degree than others, but all REALLY yum sounding. One of the channels has enough gain for two hi gain amps together. It's sickening. Even the cleans are friggin' sweet. Gonna take a few days to REALLY dial some fav's in (not to mention learn what some of the 58 knobs do). This is Marshalls best kept secret IMO. Shhh. :)

Fuckaroo bonzai that's a lot of knobs!

It's not really very complicated. Each of the 4 channels has its own eq. There is also a separate reverb for each channel. Then there's two master volumes and a global presence and resonance.

The other guitarist in my band has a JVM, the thing is awesome  It makes me hate every amp I bring to practice. Congrats on a great purchase

I am amazed at how cheap the JVM410H's are going now. A lot of amp for $1100 used.

I have heard that adding a choke and C83 mod helps....

I just picked one up for $1100 also.
Its got its quirks, like the volume drop with loop at 100% wet, but its a lot of amp for the $ and sounds great at low volume.

I'm still torn between this and a modern vintage. I keep hearing good things about both amps. Glad you like it. Dying to hear some heavy clips from this Marshall.

Thanks all. Been spending the last couple of days turning knobs, making scratch tracks, etc, you know the routine...

Hope to have a simple 'lead over backing track' type clip up tomorrow. That's the first thing I wanted to dial in anyway. VERY happy with the first few tests.

I just got a JVM 210H and I love it.... I had a 410 about 2 years ago and thought it was teh shizz too... new tube or 2 in the preamp section this amp gets very old school!

G.

I have one that I never play any more. When I got it I replaced the preamp tubes with Mullard re-issues and that gave it more of the "classic Marshall" sound, but to me the amp is just too "fizzy/transistor-y" at volume. I would (and have) take the Vintage Modern 2266 or the QR over it every time. I have all three so I'll try and get clips up if I ever get my studio cleaned out.

Cheers,

Sorry to bump this - but I did have time to make a little (mellow-ish) lead tone sample clip, no need to start a new thread.

This is still stock tubes, picking up new ones tomorrow morn, can't wait! Also kept it pretty raw, no effects other than verb via a plugin afTer tracking. No boost pedal either. Just wanted something simple to use as a starting/reference point. If this were an actual tune I could see adding some delay. Guitar > amp > cab > 2 mics > Profire610 > Cubase 5. Suggestions are ALWAYS welcome (that's why we're here ;)).

Very cool clip, loved the backing rhythm section and nice lead tone!

$1100 for that amp is a steal.
