Congrats man! I surely miss the Mark III I just sold. Can't wait to hear some clips.

Just don't turn the bass knob above 3 and turn it down if it gets muddy. Off is fine. Many people run it that way. Get all the bass you want from the GEQ. Beyond that anything goes. Just remember the treble knob also adds gain.

 Dude! Collection is near complete! That is bad ass brother. I just pulled out my 2C+ Coli from storage the other day to get back into some scooped out Metal Chewyness!
Here's a pic of her. I slam the loop with a vintage Boss 10 band and Variac her down to around 105.
Let's get that video up brother! Dying to hear some Old School 'Shortest Straw'!!!!

Killer amp. That collection is total boner material. Can't wait for the quality clip.

Pull vol 1 and max, pull trble and max, pull bass leave on 0, leave mids on zero, drive on 5+, pull deep or gain if an upgrade, scoop the eq and adjust presence to taste. Loves V30s. Congrats!

I'm definitely looking forward to A/B'ing the IIC++ vs the JP-2C.

I love when Reza gets new amps. Then I get to play em'...

DUDE. this amp is nuts. Insane.

Do I have to come over tonight instead??!

You're killing me. I want to hear that beast.

I need to go find a Gibson Explorer with EMG's for the full experience....

Congrats! Have a pair of them myself I'll never sell. One of my all time favorite amps.

Nice. I love the two I have. For fun, stick an EQ in the loop and scoop the mids a little more. Makes for a cool massive sound.

I like to hear how my IV sounds next to the IIC+'s. My old 60 watt IIC+ and a B version IV were damm close after a bit of tweaking on the IV. In fact, I think the IV does a much better job of getting a IIC+ tone over the Mark V.

Also, I like scooping the amp a lot then maxing out the 800K slider on a 6 band MXR EQ in the loop for the coked wah Stryper lead tone.

It's said Hetfield uses V30 with his Boogies. I can't confirm that.
However, I get his tone from both AJFA and Black Album using just the guitar, 2c+ and 4x12 with v30s.
With some tweeking on the settings and a EVM12L you get the J. Sykes tone on W87.

More of the Metallica tone:

Who knows what else was in that signal chain. What cabs, speakers, etc etc.
I dialed in something so clear and punchy yesterday. Im dying to get off of work to go and rip some more today...

During that era, Hetfield was using Marshall 1960BV 4X12's w/V30's. He also used Aphex/B&B parametric EQs around that time. That was a long ass few years of touring. For a while he was also slaving them in to Mesa Strategy 400 Power Amps before switching to his Mesa Triaxis + Strategy 400 rig in the mid-90s, originally also using the Aphex/B&B, but later switching to his custom Mesa rackmount EQ.

Congrats. Always making me gas for something Reza.

For what it's worth, it sounds Enough like Metallica right now, I don't want to even try and mess with adding anything. It's just a massive crunch with a nice push of lows, it's a fantastic sound. I love the graphic EQ here.

I don't think I can have THIS high gain tone and have anything like a clean tone on the other channel. That might be the only downer, but I don't care, so what. It's a single channel beast then.
For a follow up, you need to source a Strategy 400 and slave that beast into it, and run your FX in between. God tone.

My Mark III was like that too. For all the good tones in it, you couldn't really access them all on the fly.

They dial in different than lots of other amps. Marshalls have the tone stack late in the preamp but these early Boogies are sort of Dumble ODS-based which means the first two stages are essentially Fender clean with tone stack just after first stage. That's why the tone controls work so much more for 'feel' and the graphic is almost necessary for tonal shaping.
