From what I have seen on the web lately....I think someone could work full time making head shells to convert from combos.

For sure, only company I've seen a lot of those from is Zilla. Def an untapped market in the US.

Erik I emailed your guy and he seemed to be able to do it. I've emailed Zilla a couple times and just now got a response but havent heard anything after my reply.

I just want a basic bitch black headshell. Seems like that would be easy enough. Mark IV heads are hard as hell to come by now so it seems like the easiest way to find one is get a combo. Its a shame cause I freaking love this amp. Im tempted in trying to find a second one in case this one ever dies. I really think I could sell my Orthos and my 5150 and be covered for amps with just the Mark IV and my Monomyth 2204

Awesome man, glad to hear it! Yeah man the combos are mostly what I see. There is one rack mount one by me though. Dude the Mark IV and Monomyth def have you covered. Haha. Can't wait until I can get a donor to send to Shea. Dude have you run the Mark IV and Monomyth in stereo via an ABY? That's got to be devastating.

I have a guy who's made 4 shells for me (seems I only ever find deals on combos) and he does a great job. PM me if you want his info. The last one was the best, worked with me to get it perfect. (pics in vid)

Congrats on the IV! Recto 4x12 traditional straight cab highly recommended. I had a IVa short hear once. Wouldn't mind picking up a IVb long head some day.

If someone is 100% confident in their measuring skills and wanted sign off on them id build you whatever you wanted, or if you can find exact dimensions online that would work too, you may have to drill your own chassis bolts unless they had that number its not rocket science just needs to be right.

True story. The IV's lead tone is great, but if we're being honest its R2 is one of the worst tones Mesa has ever done. I considered mine a 2 channel amp.

Crunch on the Five 35 is worth the cost of admission. On the big V it's also pretty legit.

Same for me and played part in why I sold my IV.

Crunch on my Five 25 is what sold me on it, before even checking the other channel-modes.

I would love to find a M4 again, sold mine for an M5. I'm going back to it, they just don't come up on CL very often.
Congrats, on your new amp, I'm sure who'll dig it.

I use RHY2 more than LEAD or RHY1.
Then I suspect our playing styles differ. ;)

If the Mark IV's R2 was basically the Sig:X's Rhythm channel, I would probably have never sold it.
To me, the Mark IV has the Sig:X beat in liquidy lead high gains as well as the more Fendery cleans, but the Sig:X Rhythm channel with the More/Less gain, Saturation and 3 modes, was so friggin' awesome...

Welcome to my world. My C+ Coli is ABY'd with my 82 Monomyth 2204. Both slaved as well, with a couple of SDE 3000s through a HH M900 out to 2 cabs. The Mark tone mixed with a good Marshall is fantastic, hard to top IMO.

Agree.... The Rhythm channel on the Sig X might be my favorite channel on any amp.

The rig I was using most around 2008-2009 was the Mark IV and Sig X with a rack. Each amp had. 4x12.
I ran one amp or the other usually...not at the same time.

Im playing around with the other channels today. Honestly I like all of them. I still prefer the crunch and clean on my Orthos but the lead channel might be my favorite high gain tone I have. I'm still in the honeymoon phase but Im not boosting it or anything and really digging it.

My advice would be check out the full gain range of every channel. RHY2 and LEAD can do clean and point of breakup. RHY1 can do blues / crunch sound with the gain max.
RHY2 works really well with OD / boost pedals.
It's a very versatile amp.
