If you pull the chassis I think Geroge put trim pots on that boost circuit that you can adjust either the amount of boost and corner frequency like flat. 800hz 1000hz. It was either one of those, maybe he went with a flat boost but I think you can adjust the Gain/DB of the boost. It's be awhile since reading about the FET boost George added.

Again....If I didn't already have a 68 build, modded 72SL and my 792203 I would have a Metroplex for sure. Because I am all Marshall all the time....... well except for my old Randall RG100ES's.

Yeah I was comparing it to my modded 74 project and I feel George did a great job balancing the frequency response better than I have in my own build. His amps harder to play overall but I find it tracks as it should and isn’t tubby or boomy, just right. I also find that it responds to volume knob rolling extremely well - way better than my modded ordeal.

I could see potentially owning another SLP reissue with just the PPIMV LAR/MAR done to it and with an effects loop already installed for stereo use for the metroplex or my 74, but after that I’d want to be done ?

Did that amp come from Michigan by chance? If it did it belonged to an OG member of Metroamp, he was a cool dude.

Nope! 001 was ordered out of a store/dealer of George’s amps in Charlotte NC originally, and it’s been in AZ the past half decade or so. The original owner is a regular over on TGP but not on here. Ironically I found it on a fandom page of Metropoulos amps I’ve been a member of for ages. I really have dreamed of owning one of his builds for ages, but he stopped making the metroplex before I could ever commit to one. They arent easy to find on the used market since there are so few of them. I asked whether anyone had one for sale at all and he reached out privately through PM. he said toss a number, we both agreed it was fair, he paid 3% PayPal fees and we split shipping. I’ll end up paying state taxes on it as well due to the 3% but I had to do the same with my Bogner.

Thanks for the tip about the boost Frequency adjustment. I’ll definitely frown face it a bit as I love a bit of a mid boost always on kind of thing with the SD-1 with my Marshall.

These are amps are killer. Found a used one at Carter's in Nashville a few yrs ago and love it. I used it on my last TPV CD and played this solo on it.
