A few days ago I stumbled upon a used 6505 212 combo which seemed in nice condition.
The price was ok as a well, so I arranged to pick it up by myself (ouch, that was a mistake
).
As stated many times before, this thing is heavy!
Weighing in at around 40 KG I wouldn't recommend anyone who doesn't workout regularly to lift it on your own.
On to the sound. It's great!
I've owned a Framus Dragon for a few years, and now a ENGL Savage, along with a Mesa Rectoverb combo.
I don't really know if I like it better than the Savage yet, but it certainly blows the Rectifier and Dragon out of the water.
Comparing it to the Savage the sound is a lot thicker. Don't really know how else to put it.
It's not as tight as the Savage and a little bit less aggressive, but it surely does the br00talz with flying colours.
Haven't really messed with the settings a lot, but with most of the dials at noon it already sounds good.
The speakers in the combo I'm a little less fond of. When playing through the amps own speakers at first I was a little underwhelmed.
Was a bit woolly on the low end and missed a bit of definition. Plugging the internal speakers out and hooking it up to a VHT D212 cab really made things better.
The seller also had an ENGL V30 Pro 212 lying around on which I played for a few minutes and I liked that cab a lot.
Was already looking for one to match to the Savage, but the 6505 seems to like V30's as well.
Unfortunately didn't have the money to take the ENGL cab with me as well, but I definitely know what my next purchase is going to be
(and no, the answer is not: a decent camera)
