Question, where can I get one of those metal shelves like the one you have for your amps?

Home Depot ~ $49. They have black and chrome, also larger ones.vmbarrera":3mqy3jbn said:Killer collection !

Did you measure the bias with the tubes it shipped with? Or did you pull them, drop the new JJs in and then measure to find it at only 9mA? If the new tubes didn't have the same rating they are going to come in hot or cold, which is why you then have the ability to adjust according to what the new tubes need to see.

That’s a great point. The amp arrived with 2 busted power tubes and glass everywhere. So my measurements were with my new JJ’s. But it was still a pretty big adjustment. In looking at the pot, before I started it was pointed around 8o’clock and after adjusting, it was somewhere around 3o’clock. So even with a new set of tubes (that replaced what was a new set of tubes before shipping), I would think it wouldn’t be that far off. But I’m a fledgling DIYer and not an amp expert in these things.
Awesome! I'm normally a super strat guy, but I'm loving the look of that white PRS the most.stratjacket":mzbi5ha1 said:Sure man, here you go:

So these are my results in the Bogner and to give a quick result I kept the Gold Lions in it for now but would also be happy with the Chinese BSTR tubes , its a toss up for me so far as I like both for different reasons I think the Bogner is one of those amps that has a prominent midrange thats awesome but the JJ EL34s dont seem to go as well because those tubes also have a ton of mids and lean lowend :
The Chinese EL34bstr ( Ruby or Tad ) : These are the biggest and meanest sounding out of the bunch, the most lowend (still tight though) These have a somewhat dark overall sound , relaxed mids compared to the others , not harsh but a nice grind in the low mids. Really like them but I think these would work best with an amp that has a forward midrange and is somewhat lean on the bass so everything would balance out. Works great in the Bogner because it fits that description.
Gold Lion KT77 : Awesome sounding tube somewhat similar to the Ruby EL34 in that they are a bit dark and not very forward in the mids but are smother and have less bass , a bit more compression and a silky high end. These could possibly sound dull in the wrong amp but smooth out and amp that is aggressive.
JJ EL34 and KT77 : I will mention these since I just tried them in comparison. These two sets sound very similar to eachother. They have a lean lowend with a very forward midrange and are brighter than the other brands I tried today. but the KT77 as you would expect have a bit more bass and less mids ,once again they are very close. I would pick the KT77s over the EL34 when it comes to the JJs because the EL34 has very little bass, the least bass out of all the tubes I tried today. The KT77 are a bit more even and full. In the Eclipse I liked the Ruby and Gold lion tubes more but have liked the JJs in several other amps. They would work great in an amp that has a Big lowend.
