Sounds great. Makes me miss my QR.

I take excellent care of it sir. Still my number one and I've had tons. I know I'm in the minority but I love the old clean channel. Set everything to noon and select gear 2. Sounds like pure rock fury to me.

Ok. Finally got to plug it in. With my Charvel loaded with a Duncan PATB-1 it is instant George Lynch Tone on 2nd Gear OD-1. Talk about putting a smile on my face. The clean channel is pretty usless on the 2005 model, but let's be honest, I bought this thing for the gain channel. Think Lynch's tone on LM's Slow Drag. I so have that nailed right now. Now I just need to decide between a standard black Plexi look or go Purple Plexi look? Hmmm...
I've been playing my EVH Stealth head since before Christmas but plugged into my old '06 QR last week and now I'm torn on what to take to the next show. There's a reason I've been through so many amps and the Splawn has always stayed. No the right hands these amps are magnificent!

I believe mine is an 05 but had the loop updated with volume before I got it. So aggressive and full but I agree you have to be at least a decent player. Mistakes are not hidden, it's not forgiving. So rewarding if you can play though

I was a bit nervous about this amp when I decided to buy it, because everyone talks about how unforgiving these amps are. I am by far not the best player on this board, but I don't find this amp that difficult to play. I actually think it is quite a fun amp to play. Maybe I've gotten used to the tightness on the EVH, but I don't find the QuickRod to be that much tighter. It has "that" Marshall tone that we all lusted after in the 80s... at least to my ears. Dokken and Ratt riffs want to come out..lol! I can't wait to get it to band practice on Tuesday and jam some originals with this thing.

Referring to the EVH blue channel about the tightness? I dont see the red as being that tight at all. The blue being less compressed seems more tighter to me.

I owned a supersport for awhile just couldnt get the tone I wanted. Maybe if it had el34s...

I`m so close to pulling the trigger on some EL34s and having my Super Sport converted

Good choice - sounds excellent!! Splawn makes awesome replacement head cabs! He made me a JMP box for my '76, and even drilled the holes for the proper Marshall logo!

What year is yours? I think they got a little easier/more saturated as they progressed. Mines an 05 3pre

Man that clip is YT "compression pumping" like a m'rf'r; like to the point I'm feeling dizzy just listening. You can hear that there is some greatness there in the underlying sound, though. Congrats on a cool amp.

Mine is a 2005 with three preamp tubes.

When you were hitting some chords in the beginning of the video, sounded a lot like Dokken "Back for the Attack" tone. :)

Scott makes some great amps. Either tolex would look killer. :)

HNAD!

It doesn't look like someone removed the tolex it looks like it was ordered that way. I found this photo a long long time ago. I think it was in Home and Garden or something
