I kinda hear the same 'chime' as my Jubilee but with more 'umph'...we all need more umph right? MCII, metal...either one I'd love to have..

I don't know if this is correct, but I think the Wizard MCII has an LED clipping circuit, similar to the Marshall Jubilee. I use to plug a SRD Sustainor into the front of my '72 Marshall SL100, because I loved the LED clipping of the Sustainor. I've never actually played a Jubilee or Wizard, so I can only imagine who great these amps would sound under my finders.

FYI mpls Craigslist has a 1990 Custom Wizard 100...4200...dude said he has a tag that says 'custom made for Mark Slaughter'..he doesn't say what model it is but the serial number is #15.....very early one clearly. I can't post the link for some reason. Found it under Marshall...

Seems that Wizard is one of those amps that while I havent played one...have yet to hear a "bad" clip of it.

Sounds good to me too, my recording methods ain't the best - the amp is my favorite to date.

that's Eric's vid...he's the one that got me started on Wizard
he's a great player and an all around good dude

I had that particular amp before Eric. It was a killer amp and damn loud. Now this thread is giving me Wizard GAS and I really haven't had GAS for anything lately ithet than my UL and Triple Recto.

Wizard Modern Classic
Q: Does anyone know what's the actual technical difference between a plexi 50w circuit and a wizard modern classic?
A: My Wizard modern was almost identical to the Marshall Jubilee series, with the same diode clipper circuit.

If this is true, would a new Marshall Jubilee not sound just as good as the Wizard MC? The Jubilee reissue is only $1800.00 vs $4000.00 for a Wizard MC. $1800.00 is doable! :)

There have been many threads on this jubilee comparison... the circuits are NOT the same according to Larry and some knowledgable builders on that forum.. you just have to do a search. 1800 for a jube is great you should defintely look into that. The wizard will offer more gain, an actual clean channel, handwired construction with oversized/spec trannys, and a bigger 3d sound/tone. Some people spend 4k on a single channel Suhr or 6k on a historic Gibson les paul- buy whatever works for you.

Jube, 68 Plexi, SLO, Bugera, Blades Firebolt, Marshall MG & a Wizard are all the same, only difference is price, i read that on Gear Sluts, which read it from Marshall forum, which got it from GAB, which saw it on TGP.

If its on the internet it must be true.

So far my 2 favorite amps have been a Jubilee and SLO. Can't afford both, so I have a 2554 combo. Run it through 2 cabs and its huge. As much as I dig it, the sound I heard out of those Wizards last summer was amazing. Loved that tone. Can't afford a Wizard so I'll be content with the Jube.

Does the clean channel get as much gain as the crunch channel on say the SLO?

The clean/rhythm channel can get plenty nasty with the boost engaged

Have you picked up a Wizard and looked at the guts? It's built way heavier than any other amp I have touched. Even the headshell has a heft and tank feel to it.

This is my former pile of wizards! The MTL on top is similar to the MCI but with a ton more saturation. IT doesn't clean up too well with the guitar volume. The rhythm channel is a bit bright. Mine was an older model MTL so the newer versions may sound a bit different. The second one is an MCII you can get a ton of different tones from the II. The rhythm channel is by far the best of the two channel amps. The most versatile of the bunch. The third one down is my coveted MCI. My favorite, hands down. The amount of air this 50 watt head pushes is ridiculous. cleans up with the guitar volume better than all of them. Takes pedals like a champ. I've owned newer MC's that didn't have the mojo this one has. I never use the rhythm channel on this one. (its bright) But Theres no need to. The bottom one is the vintage classic. Rick's take on a plexi. Rude loud and proud. I can't even describe how well these amps are built. Nothing out there is built like a wizard. And None of these amps sound like a jubilee to my ears. I've sold all of them but the MCI. Thats the one amp I can honestly say will never leave the stable.
