NAD: Wizard 100w MCII - video added

YouTube clips can be tough on translating what's actually going on... I'd like to hear a lower gain setting.

I dig the Splawn amps, but they're just a bit too dry and tight sounding to my ears. The Wizard does not sound dry, but it is tighter on the bottom-end than I expected.

Last year I heard Pretty Reckless live. The guitar player used 2 MCIIs, with Wizard cabs and it was unreal out front. Just perfect modded Marshall type tone. He was able to open his up though. I wouldn't put too much stock into clips..I've heard shit SLO clips. The 2 I've had were amazing.

My SLO was the best "to 11" amp ever. I wished I could have gotten more of that "in the feedback loop" effect, but it was awesome, no doubt. Someone posted a Wizard clip here last year... By memory, it stands as probably the best HG amp I've ever heard via YouTube. Well, one of the best anyway.

Splawns sound nothing like a Wizard, have your hearing checked or lay off the booze.

Matter of fact to my ears nothing made today sounds like a Wizard, they seem the Ultimate.

I have more faith in a Canada company than who's currently running Marshall.

Marshall has jumped the shark.

Doesn't sound as good as I was expecting... Sort-of reminds me of a Splawn. I guess I'm more into the vintage voiced Wizard model.

I've owned a couple of Quickrods. I actually got a chance to play some of the other Splawns and the Wizard amps at a Nashville amp show.... they were nothing alike. IMHO

I never said they were. I said; "...sort-of reminds of a Splawn", referring to the bottom-end.

Synonyms
Kind of, like, moderately, more or less, relatively, something, somewhat, fairly.

back on track - for those wondering if the MC does vintage

This is the MC... Is yours not the MCII? Can the MCII sound like the MC, as in a more vintage tone?

the MCII has Contour knob, rhythm and lead bright controls, and gain knob for the rhythm channel, other than that they're pretty similar from what the guys at Vintage King said. They asked Rick to build a more tweak-able MC, so the MCII is what he did.

Nice! If you feel like it, post some clips of varying gain tones.

And "nothing alike" means they were not even "Kind of, like, moderately, more or less, relatively, something, somewhat, fairly."

"Nothing" is a pronoun denoting the absence of anything including "Kind of, like, moderately, more or less, relatively, something, somewhat, fairly."

If the two amps sounded "nothing alike" as you and your fellow poker insist, you would be correct. To me, the two share a similar bottom-end. If you disagree, than that's great... Good for you! Now, stop trolling this thread.
