Congrats !!! But how different is the MC2 compares to your D120? Any share? Cause i also bought the same D120 as yours ... as i can only gauge upon what you describe here having D120 as a reference

Very different, but have some similar qualities.
The wizard wins for me hands down, if I were to pick one.
The wizard, like my modded slax, needs no boost to get it where I like it.
You can tell by my video I’m a metal player, no cupcake riffs for me hahah. I need good, fast attack.
The deliverance is rounder than the wiz, but can get a good punch also. Just rounder than the wiz, the term “bulldozer” really comes to mind here.
Where as the wizard is like Thor’s hammer (with diamond edged points at the ends)
I honestly need to boost the d120, to get the attack and focus I need to play faster.
The d120 is more modern and darker, than the wiz, could be partly to the kt88’s.
The wizard thumps more forcefully and harder. I like the eq of the wiz better also. More of the freq bands I gravitate toward for this type of cutting metal tones.
There is also a huge price difference.
But bang for the buck the d120 is top of the list.
Truth be told. When I first got the deliverance. It was not an instant love affair, like I had with this new wizard mcII. I plugged the wiz in and first chord had an ear to ear grin.
It took me a while to get used to the voicing and eq on the deliverance.
Also the wiz is prob the best build, or one of the best built amps today.
It’s very HD, with amazing PtP turret board construction.
Not that the Fryette isn’t built well, but the wiz is just insane.

That amp is amazing to look at. I've got a MCII in all black and a VC100 in Red tolex, (but gold face and trim)... but the red with black on your amp looks bloody fantastic.

Slick tones and playing too!! I need to fire mine up again and get that Wizard chest thump.

Well, we all hear things differently but I'd hardly call my MCI experience "thin" lolol....no way no how. Haha that's really kinda funny...mine had enough low end to stay with ANY Mesa,

I'm sure we can agree that ALL Wizard amps are amazing tonal machines.

I think you misunderstood me... I didn’t say it sounded thin by itself... but rather in comparison to the newer V OT. The V sounded thicker, more chunk to it, and more saturated. Not to say a C OT lacks these characteristics... but they are more prevalent with the V version.

Different horses for different courses and all... but Rick builds some fine amps to be sure.

Funny, last night I had a chance to a/b the Wizard MC50 and Naylor Duel 100. One of the few things that I noticed is how the Wizard sounded thinner compared to the Naylor. I wonder if this 50 MC has the "C" tranny?
The way I had the Naylor set up, the overall voicing of both amps was similar. That's pretty awesome, because I love the Naylor voice. Surprised the Wizard is right there. The Naylor had a bit more extended frequency range and more girth to the single notes. The Wizard was thinner in a tighter frequency range, not as singing on the single notes. That could be down to 50 vs 100 watts. There aren't a lot of amps that I've played that can do thick, tight, and singing like the Naylor. SLO comes to mind.
Another thing that became evident is how wonderfully tight and responsive the Wizard is for fast riffing. I think this may be the best amp I've ever played for thrash. Talking Megadeth Metallica style fast riffing. I was doing things on the Wizard that I couldn't pull of on the Naylor. The Naylor has a pretty tight attack, but it's warm and fuzzy compared to the razor sharp Wizard. Once I got the hang of it, I was finessing riffs in ways I haven't done since I used to use distortion pedals, ss amps and modelers. That may seem like a slam, but it's actually a compliment. I can get that kind of attack, but with the sound and response of a tube amp that hits hard. Badass.

I've been curious about the VC for a while but couldn't find much concrete information online, is it similar to the 1st channel of MC? What's the maximum amount of gain you can get out of it?

It’s Rick’s take on a Plexi, so 2 gain stage + cathode follower. Would need to be cranked to be gained up. At the voltage I assume it runs, it would be pretty bloody loud

It’s got that super fast attack. Loves fast riffing. Razor sharp is a great descriptor..
That Naylor sounded pretty good too at ampfest. But I agree it was rounder for sure. Prob loves lead work.

If you look at the transformers the sticker will tell you which version you have...I believe the versions are A, C or V.
