Well, I picked up a mid 90s Peavey 5150 combo amp this evening. Still have the original tubes in it. The story I got about the amp was that it was purchased and played for a few months before the original owner passed away. I bought it from the second owner who bought it for the original owner’s son. The guy I bought it from said he played it twice just to make sure everything worked. (He also had six full stacks in his man cave. Lol). So this will be my fifth Peavey 5150 and second combo. Lol.

These are the best of the 5150 line. Throw some Sovtek 5881s in there and connect to an external 412. One of the best tones I’ve ever had

It still has the original tubes in it! I had forgotten how good the Rhythm channel sounds with the crunch and bright engulfed and the gain set around 6.

I plan to run these tubes for a bit and see if they have any life left in them. But I will definitely keep the Sovtek 5881s in mind.

Yeah but those things sound good. One of my old guitar playing friends has had his since they first came out. At first he put castors on it. Then he just had a case made for it.
