So this amp popped up here in classifieds and I couldn't resist. I'll admit it was a complete impulse buy and completely spur of the moment, but I'm sure glad I pulled the trigger. I knew about the 20th Shiva, but it wasn't even remotely on my radar, but when I saw it in the classifieds I remembered some other members posting about it. I remembered Gsxrbusa's clip a while back and how I thought it may be an amp that I'd be into.

Tone wise this amp reminds a bit me of the Fireball 100 I had. It has those growling pissed off low mids but it has a fair bit of bite too. Its pretty darn tight on its own, but as many know I goose everything

Its got a nice feel to it; not stiff or unforgiving but instead has a little sag making it fun to play and it seems to get pretty saturated if so desired, but its also capable of a much more dry/open high gain tone. Single notes have a great deal of weight to them both down low and up high on the fretboard. The excursion knob (kind of like a resonance knob) adds a TON, and I mean a TON of low end; THIS THING WILL THUMP HARD.

Most guys rave about the cleans on this amp, but I have to be honest, I bought it for the metal tones and it delivers in spades IMHO.

those a great sounding amps...I've had two.

They respond a lot to different speakers. I'm not a V30 guy (more of Greenback sort) but I thought the V30 was a good fit with the Shiva, especially if you have the KT88s.

those a great sounding amps...I've had two.

They respond a lot to different speakers. I'm not a V30 guy (more of Greenback sort) but I thought the V30 was a good fit with the Shiva, especially if you have the KT88s.

Good to know I'm really digging it through a 412 with heritage greenbacks. I haven't even tried it through my G12k100 loaded 2x12 yet.

KT88s in there?

It came loaded with Sovtek 6550 WE in it, but the guy I got it from included the stock Ruby KT88 VSTRs with the amp. I only played on it once or twice before swapping back to the KT88s. Not because the 6550s sounded bad or anything, but because I've always wanted to try KT88s. I actually quite like it with these Ruby KT88s in there; seems maybe a little easier to play, not as stiff. I'd like to try it with some 6550s other than Sovteks I think.

Different enough from my other amps, it gets a ton of my playing time. I just love it. I'm referring to the dirty channel. The cleans are good, I tried them once and went yep, it's clean...back to gainZ !!

Different enough from my other amps, it gets a ton of my playing time. I just love it. I'm referring to the dirty channel. The cleans are good, I tried them once and went yep, it's clean...back to gainZ !!

Yeah I traded my beloved Savage 120.


I wasn't really looking, but it popped up, and I thought ah....what the hell. I had just picked up a Splawn QR last week which I felt was going to cover similar enough ground (and then some!) that the Savage covered and I felt i'd have the upper mids thing still covered. I decided the 20th anny's low mid voicing would fill a void in the arsenal and boy does it ever! Great amp so far. Seems like one of those amps where I can set my tone and forget it.

Yeah I did the same exact thing with the clean channel hahahaha! I'm just not a clean guy Besides if I want truly beautiful cleans I've got the Germino club 40.

My friend I absolutely loved that Savage to pieces and then some. Tightest amp I've ever played. Man that amp was something special, but you nailed it brother; the GAS got me.
