Name one musician you owe your playing to...

My nephew Robert. He's three years older than me and he got me into playing and music in general. He was always bringing his record player, records and guitar to the house when we were kids. We'd listen to albums and I'd watch him play. He turned me on to Beatles, Black Sabbath and Zappa.

Martin

My cousin Sean.

My father

my old guitar teacher.

No popular musician can take that spot.

As a child listening to my dad's records:
Heard "Led Zep 1" learned about Jimmy Page
Heard "Who Do We Think We Are?" learned about Ritchie Blackmore

Had to play, learned to play, life got better, Thank You Mr. Page and Mr. Blackmore! (Ritchie, where the hell are you these days?)

Some people don't like what he is doing nowadays, but I do...

KISS- made me a rock fan for life, the whole band were like superheroes to me.. Ace Frehley was the reason I even knew what a lead guitar was...

Jesper Strömblad and Björn Gelotte, I wanted to learn their songs, and it pushed me to a new level of playing and really shaped the way I play now.

My dad played acoustic guitar a fair amount when I was a kid (mainly folk stuff).

In high school, I listened to Rust in Peace and wanted to play guitar like Marty Friedman. Then I got into Rush and wanted to play like Lifeson.

Now I play like me...

EVH and Lynch.

Time for the ass patting lovefest though........................

Guys from the forum drive me harder than anything else, guys like Gainfreak, HGainiac, Danyeo, Robotech Ivan, Carl Roa, 70Strathead, Fast Eddie D, Curt, Sah5150, Savage, Killertone, Fortin, and countless others that not listed but remembered. They are the ones that have taught me to become better whiloe also being friends. Say what you will but the best thing to happen to me was meeting many of these guys and watching them just tear the joint apart, not some guy with typed experience but real world knowledge and the chops to back them up.

I was told by a major record label exec once while hanging with some of the guys mentioned............."be careful who you place on an alter..............."

Hoping to meet Mike HIckey soon at my house and hope that he pounds me into the ground with knowledge as well

Ain't that the truth brother! One of the main reasons I still make a big effort to attend NAMM is so Degenaro can slap me around. Still trying to recover from the last beating Gainfreak gave me, painful but VERY usable ;) :D

Randy Rhoads. When I first herd crazy train I thought it sounded so cool I said I want to be able to do that that was 26 years ago

This version of Alex Lifeson

I cant name one because Ive taken from a bunch.

Neal Schon
Michael Schenker
Frank Marino
Steve Stevens
Vivian Campbell
Brad Gillis

I think that most of us have numerous guys that had an impact and shaped what we do. Guys like Jimi,Richie,Jimmy P etc etc etc made me want to play but I will say that hands down, it was EVH that made it necessary for me to buy a guitar.
