I've been listening to a lot of instrumental guitar rock type stuff lately and just wanted to find some new stuff to check out. I'm thinking some cool melodic stuff like Marco Sfogli, Andy Timmons, Guthrie, etc. Any suggestions are welcome though.

Uuuuummmm......Rob Chappers/Rob Chapman, his solo CD is pretty awesome! VERY Lesser nown.

The British guy from YouTube? No idea he had a solo album. Any clips?

I've been listening to Peter Frampton 'Fingerprints' in my car. What a great instrumental cd!

Neil Zaza - Staring at the sun & When Gravity Fails

Dave Martone - When The Aliens Come

Brett Garsed - Big Sky

Garsed/Helmerich

El Grupo

Gambale Donati Fierabracci - Made In Australia

Marc Bonilla - EE Ticket

One of the best guitar oriented instrumental CD's I've ever heard.

He's a great player but it's not your typical masturbatory shred fest - the guy really writes catchy hooks that weave into each other seamlessly. The whole album is like a roller coaster ride. Very cool. "American Matador' is great also but EE ticket is the one to get if you can find it.

The Master Plan by Chris Brooks is super awesome. It is about 5 years old, but it kills. Also Mark...Check out Steve Steven's latest. Really good!

Chappers! hahaha   Man he is so awesome. He always emails me back if I have a comment of question. Great guy...!

Mark....What was that one video you had of that Asian symphonic band? That guy kinda whaled. I think he was playing a white ZION in the vid....

Welcome, and that one is a very solid effort. I was very surprised with his diversity and ability to play other styles of music.

Mark:
You might like the Electric Sun album by Doug Aldrich (I think that's the name), some others that come to mind:

Steve Stevens "Memory Crash"

John Petrucci "Extended Animation" (or something like that)

Dixie Dregs...anything, but you gotta like fiddles, and other instruments competing with guitar.

Uli Roth "Beyond the Astral Skies", although not entirely instrumental. You'll hear where Vinnie Moore got a lot of his licks.

Chris Poland's band Ohm: is really good. You can see some of their stuff on youtube.

Michael Lee Firkins

John 5

Andy Wood

Richard Daude

Terry Syrek

Stephen Ross

Richard Hallebeek

Todd Duane

Dave Martone

Phi Yaan-Zek

Something old, something new.

Joey Tafolla - Out of the Sun
one of the first 'shred albums' to come out.
Very melody and hook driven (reminiscent of Vinnie Moore)
Keyboards courtesy of Tony MacAlpine :worship: (my fave artist)
I just checked YouTube and there are a lot of the songs on there.
Here is the title track-

Chris Brooks - The Master Plan
newer, independent artist from Australia.
I learned about him when DimentiaRadio.com was still broadcasting. I liked what I heard and ordered a copy of his cd.
I just found this video when doing research for this post. Kinda cool.
Chris performing the first track off the cd-

That Brooks dude is really sick. Holy Shiznat!

And I'll definitely check out all of the suggestions so far.

I've been listening to a couple more well known guys:

Paul Gilbert - Silence Followed by a Deafening Roar
Tony MacAlpine - Maximum Security
Greg Koch - The Grip

If you have a few minutes, listen to

"This Will Destroy You"

It pretty much changed my life. Listen to the song "Burial on Presidio Banks" or "Quiet" first.

If you like that, hold on to your hat, and listen to "Three legged Workhorse"

Buckethead!

Electric Tears
Colma
Crime Slunk Scene are my 3 favorite cds of his.
