So according to their website Naylor’s like my 2017 SD100 should be able to take EL34’s or 6550’s. For those who’ve tried it, do I just simply put the tubes in and set the bias pot within the recommend numbers range on the website or is there anything additional that needs to be done? I’ve tried contacting Naylor both by email and phone and haven’t been able to reach him or get any response, so any help would be appreciated! I wanna try my EL34’s and 6550’s in it

If Naylor claim it on his sites, it should be ok. You can check if pin 1 on power tubes is wired for EL34s. Bias range should be ok too. There are different screen grid dropping resistors and control grid resistors either for optimal conditions for EL34 amps.
I retubed my Duel 2 months ago and put 5881 in but I’m curious how will EL34 sounds in one so I say go for it ?

killer deal on a naylor 4x12 at Dave`s in Wisconsin but wont ship $595its on reverb also. I had a ceriatone long time ago that would take both the bias range was that wide. Whether intentional or not dont know. my naylor 5881 6l6 its a 90`s model

I wouldn't do it until you get absolute confirmation that it CAN be done....I'd worry that the info MIGHT be wrong; and if it is, you risk the transformers. Just to be on the safe side. I'll send Mr King a message and see what he says. After all, he is working on my new amp...which I'm patiently waiting for .....ahem.

That's why I wanted to see here if anyone has tried it and so can confirm from their experience. I know some obviously have done it (like that YouTuber Sam Vilo), but I guess no one here or on TGP has confirmed yet. I'll try maybe reaching out to King again next week

I wouldn’t change a thing about how my Naylor sounds. :D
Haha I've never ever been into the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" way. I always gotta know what it sounds like even if it ends up being worse. Obviously if it sounds better or as good but different then great and if it's worse then I better understand why the 6L6's are just a better fit for it. This is how I sometimes find interesting sounds

It's kinda like with my Gjika. I don't usually like KT77's, but the amp was designed around them and I tried my old Siemens EL34's and JJ E34L's and they just didn't sound "right" in it, but glad to get a feel for it. Bob chose the 77’s for a reason I guess, but will still try some of my others later. Never know

My Beta also sadly may have sounded better with the KT88's it came with than the EL34's, will have to try again the 88's, but whatever I learned and it still sounds overall like the same amp

Im an hour away and thinking of grabbing this. How are the Naylor speakers/cab with the SD60? Currently have a Bogner OS212 with Creamback and V30 which sounds great with my SD60..... If the Naylor cab isn't a step backwards, I will grab it..... been wanting to go back to a 4x12 anyways. Merry Christmas.

So I'm a Scumback guy and certain Celestions mainly BUT the Naylor speakers are a great tone. I've owned them and Reverends in the past. I have a Naylor 2x12 that was pretty midrange/honky for me with the Naylor speakers but I've found 2 Celestions that make it work great. It's a VERY TIGHT cabinet. I have not used the 4x12, but I suspect with the SEmi-Open backed design will be quite unique sounding but also really good sounding. I pretty much guarantee you it won't sound like anything else, and the only way to know if you'd love it is to try it. . I will say my 2x12 is built of really nice wood, and is solid /tight sounding as can be. I Have the Big Bogner closed back 2x12 and it's a very different cabinet from that. .I bet someone will love this

Merry Christmas to u :)

Eric
