I'd like to swap out the H2+ in my Anderson Drop Top as I find it too " hifi " sounding and with such a flooded market I'd like help choosing .
This is the guitar, Alder body/maple top, Maple neck with African Rosewood board.
Acoustically it's quite bright.

I have a Duncan JB in my Silhouette Special but with 500k pots ( as in the Anderson with his Vintage Voicing wiring ) it was too harsh. It sounds lovely with 250k pots but Duncan tell me that nothing in their range sounds like a JB with 250k but running 500k, if that makes sense.
I don't want a really high output pickup in this guitar because I use it in my covers band so need versatility to cover anything from country to rock soloing. It's also important it splits well with my mid single.
I've been suggested some of the following so I'd love some opinions on these but welcome other ideas.
Tyler Secret Humbucker.
Tyler Supercharged Studebaker
Suhr SSH and SSH+
BareKnuckle Crawler and Holy Diver.

I know the Suhr Aldrich is very loud but man it's splits great and cleans up so well.

the Motor city Afwayu is a pretty dark choice as is the Rio Grande BBQ. Both are probably hotter than you are looking for though, so I am not sure I helped much.

I will say I am a huge fan of the H2+ in my 2 Fenders, but neither have a maple top like your Anderson does....

Suhr Aldrich, I putted it on my Ibanez RG Prestige and it's simply a new guitar! You can't regret it!

The H2+ is my favorite pickup so I can't be of much help. I certainly never found it to be too "hi-fi" sounding, although I never tried one with that wood combo

A Duncan Custom Custom may be in line with what you're looking for...worth checking out.

Suhr Aldrich or Motorcity modern or vintage.. If those don't do it for you then I'm of no help :D Good luck... PRS 57/08's and 59/08's are pretty killer as well.

Might be worth giving the SD PATB-3 Blues a look. It was designed to fatten up trem-ed guitars, and is a hot-PAF by nature, which I think would be really good as far as versatility goes. As an added bonus, it taps EXTREMELY well. Also, I'd recommend using something like Suhr's wiring scheme, so the singles "see" 250k pots and the humbucker "sees" 500k.

Well, since the Aldrich is similar to a JB that could be a good choice since you like the JB, but I haven't played one. But since you said you're using this guitar for a cover band doing country-rock soloing I'd suggest something a little more PAFish and lower output. At 17.5k the Aldrich is pretty hot no matter how you slice it. Something like a '59 may be more versatile for the country-rock soloing thing than a really hot pickup, just my .02.

I have recently A/B tested the SSH against the Duncan '59 and if you don't want HI-FI, you would do better with the '59. They are tonally similar, with the SSH being more articulate / HI-FI.

I have the BKP Holy Diver in my Charvel So-Cal and love it, but it may not apply to your situation. It is in the ballpark of a fatter, less peaky JB, but is still pretty hot and articulate.

Hope that helps.

For your choices there. I'd go with the Supercharged Studebaker. I got a new one for sale, never installed and perfect shape - black, 53mm, 4 conductor. PM me if your interested.

Sorry mate, the Anderson uses 50mm string spacing.

Thanks though.

Well if it's a bright sounding guitar and you're thinking of a Suhr then get the DSH+. Good output but it's a bit smoother than the Aldrich or SSH+ and worked wonder's in a Suhr S2 that I had (bright guitar). Then again, I love the H2+ too.
