Need some help restoring my Masco MA-50 amp

Sorry about the cackling. Did you try swapping preamp tubes? It could be a microphonic tube. Some of those octal preamp tubes are often microphonic.

I've recently bought a Masco MA-50. I can echo blackba in saying that the MA-50 loud and proud.

I contacted skip about running the masco MA-50 in half power mode like this person did. Will see what he says. Also considering using a variac to lower the voltage to the amp.

Got a message back from Skip, he said that the plate voltage will go way too high if you pull 2 power tubes and that I can safely run the ma50 down to 100volts. So I may try that.
