Neodymium bar magnet in a Humbucker

This channel is always doing fun sorts of guitar testing and experiments.

Here, he fitted a humbucker with a Neo magnet and compares the sound against a rough cast A5.

The results were not quite what I expected.

Yeah? I honestly thought the balance was off in a standard PAF format - too much low end and not enough clarity up top. The extra low end would be difficult to tame and still keep the top pleasant I feel but that would vary per the pickup design. If you needed something to have a lot more low end and a lot less top - this could be something fun to try in there. A more modern take, like if it were wired super hot to tighten up the bottom and kinda make the top sear a bit more - it could be a super hard hitting pickup!
