My Mesa Boogie JP2C arrived late last night. I will post pics shortly. The amp is the real deal. I owned a Dual Rec for 8 years but outgrew the sound. I've missed having a Mesa though. The maintenance free nature of these amps is so convenient. The tones are simply fantastic. I have never played a Maek series as the tweaking always scared me off. I wish I had tried one years ago. I dialed in John Petrucci's setting that Mesa so kindly put in the manual and I was instantly gratified. The features and tones on this amp boggle me. The price could easily be much higher. I was thinking of getting a BE if I did not like the JP2C. As much as I'd like the Friedman there is no way I'm returning the Mesa. My 5153 Stealth just lost some of its luster.

I'll post pics and clips this afternoon. This amp has me floored. Looking forward to cranking it up !

Awesome man, glad to hear you like it. I would love to check one out!

This amp just feels at home when I play it. Im a huge Master of Puppets era Metallica fan and channel 2 puts you right there. The clean channel is the best Ive ever owned. I have not even started dialing in other sounds.....I dialed in JP's settings from the manual and it sounds so good I don't want to experiment yet. I did roll the gain off a little bit and then hit channel 2 and 3 with a Mesa Flux Drive simply because I like the feel of it and it simply rips.

Congrats! Mine is waiting for me at my local store. gonna get it tomorrow. it's gonna be a long day tomorrow.

Yeah mine came in so late I could not really try it until today. Plus I got a new IMAC for recording so Im kind of on sensory overload. The cab clone does not have great reviews but I hope to try it by the weekend. Even if its a dog the amp sounds so good Im not sure I care.

Make sure to post your thoughts when you get a chance at the amp. It's the best Mesa Ive ever played but I played every Mesa except the Mark Series. Big mistake apparently because this amp is really a fantastic machine. Congrats on your impending new JP2C day. I hope you like it as much as I do.

my last Mesa was in 1981. So it was a Mark II or Mark 1. They did not explain the way the tone stack like is common knowledge now . So I moved to Hiwatt and pedals for about 15 years. Simce then I have played rectos and triaxis of my friends and was able to dial in. I also test drove a real 2c back in the day and wishwd I would of bought it. So hopefully this will be a great head.

Really looking forward to hearing some clips. It's good to hear positive feedback about the clean channel. I really didn't like any of the clean sounds of mesa's demos

Curious how you would compare it to Quickrods. I have been interested in Mark IV and this one a bit lately and definitely lean towards raw and aggressive Marshallish tones. Can't figure out if these are in that vein or if they are way different.

In my mind way different. I plug into a QR and I think VH Marshall type tones......I plug into the JP2C and I get Metallica Black album tones. Im not saying one is better than the other...........they are both great but completely different mindsets in my lowly opinion.

Congrats! I like my 2C+ with EVs, V30s and for a more Marshall type flavor try to find an early JCM 800 cab with either 65s or vented 75s. I roll my gain back a bit and goose it with an OD1X, gives me more upper mids.

I had planned on returning this amp. A demo that would lose a few bucks for trying it out.

Oh how things have changed.......

Im going to flip my 5153 Stealth and matching cab. My Splawn may go also. I would be left with the JPC2 and a 5153 50watt as a backup.

I don't want to hijack your thread or anything, but I just ordered a JP2C myself and was wandering what would be a nice OD pedal to get some grit on channel 1 without adding much volume. I'm asking because I have a Mark IV right now, and I use channel 2 with low gain and an OCD in front for the grit I want, and I use my channel 3 for both distorted rhythm and leads. I would like to run the JP2C's channel 2 and 3 as heavy rhythm and lead respectively, but I don't want to lose the sound that the mark iv channel 2 is giving now with the OCD.

I use a Mesa Flux Drive and although I can hear all the collective guffaws about how I should not use a boost let alone a Mesa boost........

It sounds and feels fantastic. Orgasmatron !
