Awesome, congrats buddy!! I was gassing for a Cobra or Dragon back when I was in metal bands. Now I have old man wimpy amps. I really want an Archon or Uber next. I think either will compliment the XTC classic.
I was just jamming on my 7 string through my Cobra and rev 2 Uber. Good lord... both of those amps are ass kickers in the down tuned/7 string department.

Congrats! That was my first expensive amp that I ever bought about 7 years ago. But I had a bad experience with mine. I got it off eBay and when it came in the tubes were bad. So I replaced them and it screamed after that! But then I took it to its first gig and the tubes were shot again! So I took it to my tech who tried to trouble shoot it and he went through 2 more sets of tubes trying to figure it out, he never could. During this whole time the guy on eBay said nothing was wrong with the amp when he had it so there was no luck there on sending it back. After trying to do another gig and it burning out the 4th set of tubes I said screw it and sold it for $500, (after paying $1800 for it, cause I was a noob to the whole gear thing and paid eBay prices at that time). But Ive been wanting to try another one but kinda scared! LOL
I have read this several times over the years. NEver had a SLO but man this Cobra is a killer.
Only played it once with my drummer and I did run a timmy pedal for a clean boost in front(not that the amp needs it)
I just like to use it as a solo boost.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the inner workings of guitar amplifiers in general and you have my attention, if you don't mind me picking your brain for a sec.
What specifically do you not like about that particular isolator and what would your ideal alternative be?
Also, what is the significance that distinguishes that single H1F1 used in the cobra from the H1F2 and H1F3 that are also found in that amp? Anything apart from their 0160 and 0054 respective differences in value?
