Amp ho
UPDATE

Adjusted my settings and got a tone that I like that cuts in the mix as well. Still not capturing what I'm getting in the room but that's never happened anyway

There's some clean stuff in one of them. Got that channel dialed in nicely as well.

Well that took a lot longer to get my hands than I thought. Had three different sellers change their mind at the last second. I ended up paying a little more than I would have if I had just been patient but I was getting restless.

Now for the amp: it's a rev blue in excellent shape. It's newer but haven't taken the time to figure out what year it is. It's pre comet tolex.

Didn't take me long to get some rockin tones. I love saggy amps and this is a prime example of one. It's addictive to me. It's strange how it's smooth but simultaneously aggressive. Lots of fun! The clean channel is more than decent...I don't get the complaints.

Pics and clip:
Here's a short clip...nothing special. This amp was made for drop d riffing:

Congrats! I almost sent a PM offering mine but I thought better of it! :)

HNAD! Thing sounds badass, man. I love saggy saturated amps and that thing fits the bill nicely!

No worries man it all worked out. Was kinda stressful though!

Sounds great

Our practice spot is a climate controlled storage unit, so there's a lot of lot of bouncing around going on. Think these tubes are original to the amp, too. Will probably retube the whole thing just to start fresh. But thanks man.

Band practice tonight. We'll see how she holds up to my buddy's single rec. Have a feeling everythings going to sound damn nice. Listening back to that clip, I need to get some more mids in there. But having the gain and bass up is so fun. I get why people make such shitty clips of this amp - it's fun to play when you exaggerate frequencies( ahem...BASS) that don't record well, or even sound all that good for that matter. Will probably dial back the bass and get some more mids in there for the band tonight.

Update: I was struggling to get more mids out of the amp last night with the full band, as the mid knob doesn't really control the mids. BUT after trying random changes I found that rolling back the treble does. Weird. Need to experiment more but it was sounding great.

Try the presence knob, it acts like a mid control. Pretty sure turned up adds mids and cut....

It does to a degree. About 130-2 sounds best to me. Past that and things get harsh. There are definitely multiple ways to make it cut, just trying to find which one sounds best. Back at it tomorrow.

The mid is a low mid (adds bass mids). I always ran mine on 0. Love the rev blue but it's more of a scooped tone amp. Mine had trouble cutting the mix live. I love to record with it though and it's still one of my favorite amps . I also only run mine with a boost up front to add Mids and cut better. It does not do it for me with out boost

Interesting. By the end of the night I was running it with the mids up at 3 and the treble down at 9. That seemed to be best. Will see again tomorrow with fresh ears and see what happens.

Man so I verified with Bogner that this amp is from 2005. Owner told me original tubes and Bogner said these ARS el34s and Chinese labeled 12ax7s are what they were using back then.

Meaning these tubes are more than likely 10 years old.

Don't think I have this thing sounding its best, but I have no reference point with Uberschalls in person. Tube order going in soon.

Sounds pretty good as is, do you plan on replacing the tubes anytime soon? If so, some before and after clips would be awesome!

I do plan on it. I was thinking the same thing concerning clips -would be interesting.

I agree, I have no idea how old the tubes in my Uberschall are either. It sounds awesome to me, so I could be suffering from the same situation

i have a blue rev, its amazing. i love it

try a gold pin tung sol in the v1 and regular tung sols in the rest of the positions. Then JJ E34L in the power section. Sounds insane

Ive also heard good things about running kt77s in the power section
