That sucks. What happens if the guy doesn't leave any feedback? I sold a Randall RG80ES a few months back, and according to tracking the guy recieved it, but then he dissappeared. He didn't leave any feedback, wouldn't respond to any emails  I already had the money so it was alright, just weird. What if that happened now?

Worst case, 21 days.
Best case, you give them the tracking number, they verify delivery, they release the funds 3 days later.

Also, Paypal reps state that it's an Ebay Rule, not a PayPal rule. PayPal is acting on Ebay's behalf.

did you see this one

Ebay will go totally to paypal in October !!

They won't allow money orders as payment

Hey rareguitar , can you post a link to that "new" paypal policy ??

WOW, Ebay can go suck my ass.

Big time, good thing I dont use it unless it is for something that is just rare and cant find it local. This is no skin off my ass.

my god,man...that's a crock of B.S....i had some guy tell me the same thing,a few weeks ago,for something that i purchased.the seller tells me to leave him positive feedback as soon as i received the item so that he could collect his money from paypal that i sent him...this is totally ridiculous, for both the buyer & seller.i guess ebay & paypal just want to go out of business eventually...

I sold an Ibanez on the bay a couple weeks ago, and have a 30 rating (100% positive). I saw that paypal hold after the guitar sold, but I shipped the thing. I was a dumbass and only put the tracking number in eBay. Apparently, you need to put it in Paypal or else it doesn't work. Guitar was delivered last Wednesday, haven't heard from the buyer, haven't gotten feedback, and worst of all, haven't gotten paid yet.

Ebay can lick my furry sack.

I've got my McInturff up on Ebay right now, and am thinking of pulling the auction because of this.

oh man that sucks.

eBay can suck my ass

I've made a conscious effort to try to purchase things from forums from people that I know (not just guitar gear). So far it's been a much better experience (and the condition of the gear is better too)

Hey Guys,

I bought a Marshall 1987x Splawn Modded Marshall head today on ebay from a gentleman in Alabama.

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... TQ:US:1123

So I pay this guy same day via Pay Pal with no issues. I get a email from him complaining that my Pay Pal payment is on hold for 21 days and it is my fault and "sorry" but he wont sell the amp to me and wait for MY funds to clear.

I reply nicely but with WTF! I paid as I always do, money from my pay pal account balance and it should have no issues.

He is not helpful on his end. I call Pay Pal and they explain to me they have a new (2 months old) policy for low feedback sellers that they must ship the item and I must get it before they (Ebay/PayPal) will release the funds.

Of course I call this guy and try to tell them it is on his end and he tells me tuff luck, no money from pay pal no amp being shipped. He didn't want to hear that it was on his end and quite frankly I don't really blame him but I did everything I was supposed to do. So now I am out $1400 and this fellow is not shipping anything and the chase is on to get my money refunded.

Just thought I would make you guys aware if it hasnt happened to you yet . I am sure I will get my $$$ back eventually but I wanted the amp and not the drama. oh well, just a heads up...

Brad

Happened to me when I sold my Metro Plexi. Except I shipped it, bitched about it a lot, and got the funds a week later when the buyer left positive feedback.

Same thing I dealt with, they released my funds after delivery was confirmed. HUGE pain in the ass, however, not the buyers fault.

WAR Google Auctions.....take the auction back to the little people. (Just wishful thinking tho')

Screw eBay

Which is BS since eBay owns PayPal.

eBay / PayPal are just looking for any excuse they can to hold your money. They buy short-term notes or T-bills with the money they hold and make interest on top of their outrageous fees. Last item I sold they charged 2.9%. :gethim:

Here's another theory. Paypal/ebay has been hit with a lot of complaints of people sending the funds and never receiving the goods. Happened to me.

UPDATE!

Well after talking to Pay Pal the seller decided he needed to send me the amp and is imploring me to leave positive feedback as soon as I see it which I will do. Crazy fkn rule if you ask me.

Glad he saw the light...now you can hold him to ransom over the feedback...  :gethim: ...not really

I just sold my guitar on there today, and the money was available to be withdrawn right away  . NOT that I'm complaining. I've only got 20 transactions, so after seeing this thread I thought it was going to be held. Maybe I'll get an email or something.

My guitar sold on the 19th, and was delivered Wednesday the 27th - USPS confirmed delivery. Guess what, payment still pending.

F eBay!!!!

Whan you signed into paypal, did it say payment pending?

Yep. 30 feedback, 100% positive, only about 5 in the last year though... The buyer of this guitar didn't leave feedback, so I have my bill from eBay for selling the guitar before they released the cash to me.
