I've been sort of following them a long time, but I admit I lost a lot of interest since that Humanz album came out. That one was dull. The last album I enjoyed was the Now Now, but that wasn't even close to being as good as their first self-titled are album in 2001. I did see them perform in 2005 in Manchester England, and once in Austin Texas. They were a lot of fun to watch. I don't agree with the singer's silly political views, but still enjoy their music.

My fave album is Plastic Beach and it kind of follows a lot of that......

Listening to more of it..... I liked it to start but the other stuff is as good or better than the single.

I was a much bigger fan of Blur than Gorillaz, but he's made it very clear that Blur is not going to be a large part of his future at this point. The 2023 album Darren was better than I expected. The frontman Albarn, spent a lot of time in Africa smoking pot and studying music back around the year 2000 and has never been the same since. It did give him some creative rhythm ideas, and that's exactly what he wanted for Gorillaz. Pirate Jet on Plastic Beach is hilarious for some reason. Empire Ants is my favorite on that album.

Idk the new Gorillaz album is awesome IMO........

But here is another taste on another single......

you're not doing so bad if you're playing Madison Square Garden

Oh they HUGE, which doesn't surprise me. I mean, if I had a band that was about 6 times more popular than my other band, I would probably spend more time on it as well.

His 2014 solo album Everyday Robots is probably my favorite of his. 2017 album Merrie Land had some good tunes as well.

Ehhhhh....

I remember when I was in college, and much easier to impress by new, shiny, and/or "hip" musical artists and their allegedly "new" ideas.

That was a long time ago.

.

Granted I only spent about 7 seconds skipping through the video in the OP but I didn't hear any guitars. Not much on Wikipedia except that they are a 'virtual' band from Britian. Seems very cartoonish and fake. But I guess the kids like it because 1 video has a billion views

Gorillaz was originally created to be a manufactured band (like a joke), in response to the fact that the singer noticed pop music was becoming more and more fake back in 2000. It was also an outlet for the singers love of hip hop, as Blur was not going to do that for him. I personally think the band is hit or miss. Some stuff I like a lot, some stuff is very dull. I kind of see Radiohead the same way -- very hit or miss.

The best radiohead song I have heard is when it was covered by a real musician

The difference between radiohead and this shit is no one worth a shit would be able to listen to this for more than 10 seconds let alone have any interest in covering it
