Granted I only spent about 7 seconds skipping through the video in the OP but I didn't hear any guitars. Not much on Wikipedia except that they are a 'virtual' band from Britian. Seems very cartoonish and fake. But I guess the kids like it because 1 video has a billion views

It kind of reminds me of the kind of music they played in theatres in 2012 before the previews came on

I watched about 33 seconds of that SNL video and I two guys who look like they are playing their instruments but there is no guitar sounds. Just seems super fake. Just like the OP.

I remember when their first album came out and everyone I knew was talking about it and loved it. I also remember thinking "uh oh, this is going to be bigger than Blur". Blur's band members were a bit pissed off in the beginning, but you can't hate someone for being successful. If you dislike someone, let it be because you don't like their content or music. Gorillaz first album still sits up there as an album I can listen to almost any day. A lot of their later stuff sounds like garbage to me, but so what. No one writes good stuff at all times. I like the songs of theirs that have less rap and less guests. Snoop Dogg song in 2010's Plastic Beach album is... not for me.
