No my memory is fine. Yours seems a bit fuzzy though.
It started with Hegseth, but a large chunk of the conversation was about the troops traditional "surf & turf" meal.

I reread the other thread to recap what was discussed about spending money on steak and lobster for the troops.

  • @JDs Couch posted about Hegseth spending 22M on steak & lobster in a single month. He did not reference which occasions it was for, just dollars spent.
  • Posts 2-24 were OTC insults with @Findthetone1 in post 9 saying wasteful spending should be called out.
  • Post 24 @Floyd Eye referenced the military tradition of surf and turf nigh and no one complained about it under the Obama or Biden admin. @JTyson backed up that this tradition has been done under every admin.
  • A bunch of off topic posts until @Robostyle posted an article link from babylon bee in post 56 with the satirical headline of democrats bitching money was spent feeding troops instead of funding Somali daycares. with a couple follow up posts referenceing feeding troops steak & lobster.
  • In post 60 @JamesTiberiusKirk asked if we thought Gomer Pyle was eating all the steak and lobster, claimed Hegseth and Lockheed Martin were wasting funds. Followed by some math that $1M at $100/plate would buy 10,000 plates of steak & lobster.

Thanks for all that work confirming what I said. Gomer Pyle wasn't eating all those steaks. No I wasn't insinuating he inflated costs but now that you mention it, ya, maybe. I was insinuating that money got pocketed.
