Adrian writes killer melodic stuff, cool to see some of that gear. JVM is cool, I still love my JVM205 50 watter after 8 years.

Will be travelling to London for IM's gig on Saturday next week. Will be nice to hear his tone live as well! 🤘

Makes perfect sense, and as I alluded to in an earlier post in this thread, most of the most common mods out there seem to de-claw and neuter the amp a bit (including the Satch version). That said, I would be interested in a mod that made the crunch and OD channels slightly more aggressive and "modern". And I couldn't agree more with what you are saying about the crunch channel, if the amp has a weakness...That is it.
Yep.

I have two, I wouldn't mind sending one to Jerry to tinker with lol. Thing is I'm so used to OD1 Orange I just don't know how I could imagine it more aggressive without messing with it's base "hot rodded" Marshall tone. Less compression maybe? The first mod I did on one of my old ones was the Choke, but I love the quick attack of the stock one so to me that's a wash. Les compression to get it a little more raw, then how would that affect the feel of the amp. I'm afraid I'm too far down the rabbit hole with that amp after 18 years at this point.

Id love to send him a 2000 DSL 50 though and have him mod that. I've always liked the layout of those workhorses but could never get them to work with me back in the day. To much this, not enough that. Why didn't the put a resonance knob on it instead of the push knob etc... And I want the gain from the amp, I don't want to run OD's.

werent they using some custom marshalls that werent released in the past?
Seems like that was another band. One guy had those proto Marshalls that were supposed to be the Aldrich amp. Can't remember the band but here's the pic. Also think that guy just recently changed. In Flames maybe? Apparently some of those proto's got out in the wild as well. That amp and the proto Super Plexi that Slash and Bonammass tested out and wanted they never released either - classic Marshall fail. All those products were being designed while Santiago was there years ago and for whatever reason Marshall didn't release them. Now they release two overpriced anemic modded amps lol, whatever.

It actually was In Flames...good call.

ah cool, i was looking for about 20 minutes going nuts trying to remember who it was. you'd think marshall would have some kind of custom shop like gibson or fender to get whatever you want.

I agree with you for the most part. I was once told by a well known guitarist and gearhead: Don't mod an amp you don't really like expecting to turn it into an amp you do...Mod the amp you already really like, hoping to turn it into an amp that you love. I already really like my JVM, actually surprised how much I like it.

In listening to the clips, what I dig about the mods that @RedPlated does is that the natural based tone and character of the amp is still there. The Marshalls that he has done still sound like Marshalls...But just a bit meaner, more aggressive and perhaps clearer / tighter as well....Maybe a bit more "modern" overall. I feel like the JVM could use a touch of that energy....Like an update to bring it to 2025. Also the Recto mods he does, seems to keep all the qualities people like about Mesa Rectifiers, and clean up the agreed up problems very nicely....And no boost required, plenty of Recto character still in place, but tight and aggressive. Nothing wrong with what a guy like Hermansson does at all, in fact I think his Marshall and Mesa mods sound absolutely killer....But they sound like completely different amps, at least to my ears.

As a happy JVM410H owner, I'm waiting for the haters.

Always enjoy when pros use mass produced amps, even if they have some custom work done vs unobatnium booteek amps.

Much of my favorite music was made with guitars, amps, pedals, racks, that were available to everyone at the time.
I might get a 50 watt JVM. I think they are great amps

Janick > Kirk, at least these days. Kirk talks like his mediocrity is part of some artistic journey, and really it seems more like laziness. Janick doesn't seem to take himself nearly that seriously.
How did poor Kirk get dragged into this...

This was great! I love how he doesn't even know what pickups are in some of his guitars, he just knows they sound great. I wish I could be more like that, seems many of us start contemplating a pickup swap, even before we take delivery of a new guitar! :-)
