New JJ died

Took my new JJ 100 to jam with a drummer tonight. Only had 3-4 hours of use previously.
About half an hour in, it lost all power and sound, no fumes, no smoke just quickly stopped working.
The fuse seems to be ok, tried a different power cord, too.
Amp does not power up and the power light does not come on - just dead.
I'll try a new fuse tomorrow just to see.
Anyone have any ideas?

One other thing that may or may not be related is that when I first got it, within the first hour, the JBE channel would cut out and lose gain - maybe reverting back to the BE channel, but has not happened since.

Any ideas?
 
hmmm. could be a few things. power light does not come on, so cord n fuses have to be good. if just lamp aas out, you'd have sound. since u had issues with losing gain or reverting back to clean or something, i wonderif there is something is wrong withthe power transformer! if a new cord n fuses does nor solve it, you'll need to send it into Dave stat.
 
Not sure what type of fuse holders and main power IEC's Dave is using these days but you should have two fuses. If you have absolutely no power, I would think it was the main fuse and not the B+ fuse. If he is using the IEC power fused connector you have to pull the fuse from the connector. Sometimes people are not aware of this and it's over looked.
 
Just looked at a picture form another thread and the IEC power connector should have a 4 amp fuse and the other fuse holder for H.T. should be 1 amp
 
Replace the fuse(s) ... even thought they may "look" OK they can still be faulty. Only way to make sure is to replace or check with a DMM.

Also, if the fuse has blown, there might be an issue with power tubes, fuses don't blow for no reason at all on average.

Check your fuses as bwgintegra said. The pictures on say Musicians Friend or Guitar Center online show an IEC AC connector and two fuse holders, but that must have changed. The released Cantrell only has one standard fuse holder for H.T (1 amp). The Main fuse should be located in the IEC AC input tray. Unplug the amp from the wall and just below the male connector, there is actually a tray. Take your finger nail and pull it outward toward you. There is also a fuse in there. Replace both with the appropriate fuses (this one is 4 amp-T4AL250V) - see pic. Hope this helps and report back if ok or not.

thanks guys, I totally missed that second fuse tray, I'll check that.
 
Mine did the same thing. Blew both fuses. Replaced em and it's back n working fine. Not sure what took em out.
Note that the fuse on the power plug tray is a 4amp fuse, not 1amp like the other one. And it has a space to keep a spare in that tray.
If you keep putting 1 amp fuses in the power outlet spot, it'll keep blowing em. You can guess how I know this. :)
