Good for them, if they get some air play.

I got a little AIC vibe at the start, but also got bored and skipped ahead to about half way through for some LOG.

Isn't the drummer playing with Megadave on tour now?

Seems like people were throwing fit over that?

LoG has been one of my favorites ever since I saw them on their 1st tour... opening for Mushroomhead of all bands. :)

The new music I have heard definitely interests me. I'd rather they continue to evolve and experiment along with remaining heavy. It seems, without hearing the full album, they're achieving that with their newest material. As long as they don't do a "McTallica", I'll always support their art.

I dig it too. At first I didn't... but it grew on me as the song went on. By the end... I was in.
The other two songs are more of what you would expect from them. Kinda cool that they are experimenting a bit without getting too far off track.

I find as a metal guitarist their music pretty damn difficult to play and I can play pretty much any metal music. That's what intrigues me abut LOG. I took about 10 years off of elec guitar and suddenly now everyone's an expert. Except me.

Mark's triplets and gallops always feel like a sudden spasm that snuck in and it's not something I can bring my right hand to duplicate. I don't know if it's a brain thing, a wrist thing or both. But they refuse to submit to my will. It's aggrivating as hell. Same with Gojira's Esoteric Surgery, amongst others. If I saw them both live at the same show, I'm certain I'd come away with a twitchy eye for weeks.

Still Echos is awesome, reminds me of King Me from the last album.
512 has that new american gospel feel to it.

and the new one....Bravo dudes, way to completely get out of your comfort zone and write music. The alice and chains vibe comes from the harmonized 4ths/5ths in the clean vocals.

Gotta laugh at the "all their albums sound the same" followed by "This is different, I don't like them changing!"
Ah metal fans, we're never happy.

I can't make out which is the guitars and which is the drums

I stopped playing around the time Rust in Peace came out. I figured I was the shit because I could play Holy Wars note for note. These days, Holy Wars is the equivalent of Seek and Destroy. I can play a lot of the LOG stuff, but not at the speed they play it.

Now that is more like it. Wonder if they used Mark V's to record this album? or if it's just the same old Mark IV rig's?... It's definitely a Mesa Mark on these songs, that is for sure. That tone is very distinct.

I'd love to play some of their stuff, but I can't play it for shit. Too stuck in 80s technique I guess, but it seems damn near impossible to me.

Steve

You think maybe they stuck with the Royal Atlantic? I don't have anything to go by other than likely misleading music videos. Just curious.

"Take No Prisoners" has got some pretty fast picking in it. What's hardest about their songs is Marty's playing though, he's got a very unorthodox way of phrasing. Some of it is pretty technical and a lot harder to play than anything Mark from LOG does.

I don't really find LOG songs all that difficult to play, it's all pretty standard kinda riffing and the leads are pretty standard too. I guess the hardest part is playing the riffs up to speed. It's mainly alternate picked so it's just a matter of getting that speed up. If you are used to playing old Slayer songs? then it's no problem at all.

I am still soaking all of this in and it may take a while to come back with my thoughts.

For now, the only thing I can confidently say is painted in this picture.
