Their soft... and sit down to play...now drop and gimmy 20!
New Revocation is incredible. One of my all time favorite bands! But yeah, recently just kinda been the same thing, just toned down a bit. Wrath is a fucking monster front to back. I liked Sturm und Drang, but anything after that hasn't really grabbed me.
As far as newer bands...Sylosis and Revocation are still crushing it. Hath is pretty fucking killer, too. And I've been digging Fit For an Autopsy and the last few Cattle Decapitation albums.
Can't argue with any of that.As a long time fan of LOG, they have definitely grown stale to me over the last 10 years. I miss Chris in the band but Art is still a monster drummer.
With all that said, their live shows are still among the best. They are so heavy sounding and they have a great catalog of songs with the exception of the most current stuff IMO.
I've seen them so many times, and have had mixed feelings about some of their performances...some of that isn't their fault, but...As a long time fan of LOG, they have definitely grown stale to me over the last 10 years. I miss Chris in the band but Art is still a monster drummer.

Anyway, I still love LoG, and those records up through Wrath all came out when I was in HS and college, so lots of nostalgia attached to them. Plus so many banger songs and great one liners. Reminds me of Arnold movies lol.
Yeah, they do sound different hey? Their signature tone is gone, I don't think they use Mark IV's in the studio anymore but Willie still uses them live for his FOH sound. Drum tone is way more generic IMO, that's the biggest thing that's missing. I like maybe two songs off Omens and this one isn't looking much better. Omens was way over produced IMO.Doesn't even sound like the same band. If not for Randy's vocals I wouldn't have known that it was LOG. Different guitar tones, different drumming...last good song they released was 512...and I'm a longtime fan.
Resolution may not be their strongest album writing wise, but it has their best production to date IMO. It's so clear and big sounding and the drum sound is phenominal. The guitars sound great as well. I hear mostly Mark IV but there is some Royal Atlantic in there as well. Storm und Drang suffers from a rather cloudy and undermixed guitar tone, it should have been mixed better.I love Randy's vocals. I think he's one of the best ever in metal. I also loved Willie and Marks dry yet saturated Mesa tone crunching and screaming through V30s. Not hearing that here at all. I also loved Chris's precise mechanical drumming which is replaced by some pretty standard playing.
I also did not like their 2012 release Resolution. But they came back strong with Sturm Drang. The whole album is good and the two singles 512 & Embers were killer. Definitely their last good album.
Ashes Of The Wake and As The Palaces Burn hit me the hardest. There really isn't a bad song on ATPB. Have you heard the remixed, remastered version? For me...Sacrament is one of the few albums that came close to hitting me like, And Justice for All did.
The guitars sounded thin and the drums felt hollow (to me)...on the AOTW & ATPB. with the exception of the snare...sacrament nailed it (as an album)Ashes Of The Wake and As The Palaces Burn hit me the hardest. There really isn't a bad song on ATPB. Have you heard the remixed, remastered version?
