Very difficult to say without trying it..... But from the manual it seems like they are going after the modern sound. Less bass and not at the very bottom. More midrange.... Upper midrange particularly. Smoother highs. Extreme amounts of gain. Pretty far from the scooped sound many people originally fell in love with from Mesa. When I first got into them before people used them for metal everyone was into the midrange heavy lead sound they did.

This amp is also lacking all the bells and whistles people associate with Mesa. When I talked with Randy about this amp a few months ago I got the impression he was going after a more vintage traditional sound. He said he was interested in making simpler amps..... I would guess this is the first of many.

I mean it only has 6 voicings. Most Fender amps have 4 if you include the bright switches. I think my Mark IV has 96.

He actually built what I suggested.... California cleans, modified English crunch and a hybrid Rectifier / Mark highgain channels.

You can't even run the bass past 11:00 or 12:00 on most Mesas anyway, so I doubt it would be lacking any low end. I'd rather have had it the other way around with mark crunch and English high gain.

The manual suggest running the bass in the noon-3 o'clock range on the two gain channels. Without the GEQ and the loose bass of a Rectifier it is going to be interesting to see how the bottom is voiced.

Unlike every other Mesa I have tried they suggest noon is a good place to start with all the tone controls.

Yeah they usually state in their manuals not to really run the bass past 11:00 or 12:00, or keep it between 10:00-12:00. I never could really get along with the bass settings on Mesa Boogies except for the Lonestars, so the Triple Crown sounds like it might finally be a Mesa Boogie I can stick with. Don't get me wrong, I've always loved their amps and have owned a few, but never kept one more than a year or so. I even had a mini rect and Mark V mini, but didn't keep them long.... By the way, no need for a Triple Crown mini in the future since the 50w can run 6V6's.

I want to try this out as well. I'm interested to see how it is, when compared to the stilleto etc. Also can we stop with the freaking de-tuned demo's and just get some straight rock.

I don't know where this will fit in, but with the recto reborns, I can't imagine it being too crazy. The reverb is nice though!

Is it me, or is a Royer and a 57 an overrated mic combo??

I might be able to help there. I owned a Stiletto Deuce Stage 1, had one of the first Hollywood Mod Stage 1's, and owned and gigged both the ACE and Stage 2 Deuce. So, I'll try to compare and contrast the best I can.

I was weak. The temptation too strong.

Inbound.....

Awesome... I've got one inbound next Wed (Dec 7). I'll be curious to know your thoughts on it as well.

Thanks for jumping in guys .. I can't wait to hear your thoughts, and see some videos I've never heard a mesa factory demo I liked on any amp looking forward to some decent ones

I may be in. This appears to address a number of things I had thought "I wish..." about my Mark V. Not saying I'm getting rid of the Mark, mind you...

And I thought my next amp wasn't going to be a Mesa. Well played, Mr. Smith.

Want to try. Looks good. Clean to classic to modern with good features.

Cool. I hope this new amp doesn't turn out to be like their old Nomad amp.

We shall see....I think the reviews and demo vids will begin flowing in towards the middle of next week as the word is out. I may drive over to Mesa Hollywood this saturday and put one through the paces myself. I dig the features and simplicity here.
