New Mesa Triple Crown

I like the cleans, liked the second demo channel 3 tones too, not a fan of djent but I see why they put it in there. I've watched these videos a few times now and for some reason I'm drawn to this amp, it's weird, there's something in that tone that I really like, sounds like something I'd feel really comfortable playing through. Guess I'll have to hunt one down to see if it's just some voodoo or it holds up?

Man that Purple Tie Dye shirt did not do me justice at all. I am returning it back to the store.

Really great price points for this and the JP2C. Built in the USA 3 channel amps for 1800, and 2400? Great deals.

Sad that we're getting another unusable official Mesa demo. Especially for the high gain settings the videos aren't really helpful. A traditional high gain use, for example a Metallica-like tone would be interesting. Sad that they instead go for the ultra heavy downtrend guitars or 7, 8, 9 and whatnot stringed guitars...
But I'm still interested. The price sounds fair, more than the asking price for the JP2C ;)

Mesa would be doing itself a disservice if it choose to promote a Metallica type tone. That's a 30+ year old sound produced by an amp that they already make, and recently reissued. I'm not a fan of that djent sound at all either, but that's what needs to be marketed. There will be more demos coming soon with different players doing more "traditional" high gain tones, but at release it makes sense to promote what is popular.

"It’s got the Cleans of a MARK amp in Channel 1, the Classic Rock Crunch and beyond in Channel 2, and in Channel 3, the most gain of any MESA to date with Dual Rectifier-esque top-end, but a higher “EL34” harmonic spread and higher, tighter Bass response blended with a MARK amp’s soaring, vocal sustain and effortless, inviting feel. And all this versatility is delivered with an immediacy of attack and gut-punch midrange all its own in our line."

From manual...

Alright, so this things been available for almost a day now. Who's tried it?

Fill us in, C'mon!

This description sounds amazing. If 80% of it is accurate...........I buy.

I never understood why Mesa chased the Marshall thing and still do.

Take a look at a 4 channel JVM, now understand that the Roadking and Roadster came out before it. Also do Marshall amps have channel switching and effect loops? Well guess what amps first hit the market with those features. Who's chasing who exactly?

Aside from that, I don't see how this is "chasing Marshall"? There's nothing in the description that describes it as Marshally...?

Sometimes it seems that anytime a new EL34 based high-gain amp is introduced....It is interpreted as "chasing Marshall" (whatever that means). I will wait for some additional demos...But as of today, the amp does not sound particularly "marshallesque" to my ears.

That sounds like all the things have been addressed that I could never quite latch on to Mesa Boogies (except 2010 Dual Rect). I'm definitely getting one. Hard to say definitely from the video, but I really like the way the distortion holds together when chording. I really need hear more of the lead tones though.

BTW mesa hollywood has them in stock NOW ! I grabbed one, perfect feature set for gigging and I thought it sounded great. Will return it if that is not the case

And if Mesa were really chasing Marshall wouldn't they open up manufacturing plants in Vietnam or Korea and release a digital hybrid amp? Then of course they have to come out with a mini refrigerator, Mesa labeled golf shoes. Oh don't forget Mesa eyewear and bar stools.

There was Mesa bar stool in the video.... I kind of want one.

If you find one. Let me know. I want 2 of them myself. Serious ;)

Sounds like a Mark V clean, Mark V "Crunch" with more gain and a "Tight" mode, and a third channel that's a Recto/Mark hybrid...packed into a smaller chassis with a middle of the road 50W power section.

We'll see how this goes...

Very difficult to say without trying it..... But from the manual it seems like they are going after the modern sound. Less bass and not at the very bottom. More midrange.... Upper midrange particularly. Smoother highs. Extreme amounts of gain. Pretty far from the scooped sound many people originally fell in love with from Mesa. When I first got into them before people used them for metal everyone was into the midrange heavy lead sound they did.

This amp is also lacking all the bells and whistles people associate with Mesa. When I talked with Randy about this amp a few months ago I got the impression he was going after a more vintage traditional sound. He said he was interested in making simpler amps..... I would guess this is the first of many.

I mean it only has 6 voicings. Most Fender amps have 4 if you include the bright switches. I think my Mark IV has 96.

He actually built what I suggested.... California cleans, modified English crunch and a hybrid Rectifier / Mark highgain channels.

Be cool to have a Marshall, Fender, Mesa and a few others. Maybe get some Khaki Pants and a tattoo ?
