Popped up in my youtube feed.

The kick drives me nuts in this song... freaking annoying as hell. Wonder if Lars mixed it.

I think it supposed to be released on the 18th? :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

Its complex but somewhat disjointed feeling. Maybe it will grow on me...

I love the song, love the mix. Man, I've dug all three songs I've heard so far.

Best Metallica in decades. They are definitely getting closer to recapturing the original sound.

Albeit less aggressive and pissed off but so are their lives I would imagine. Probably about as close as they will ever get.

WTF...James is wearing a fucking Leadville, Colorado t-shirt at 4:57? Wonder if he was actually there, that'd be nuts.

I lived there from 2005-2013 and still own a home there.

The typical response I get from people when I say I'm from Leadville, CO is "Where the Hell is that?"
Just strikes me as extremely odd that he is wearing that shirt. Its a middle of nowhere kinda place. Aspen, CO; I could see him vacationing somewhere like that, its a destination for sure but Leadville, CO.....

There is quite a bit of history in Leadville.

Yep. A ton of history indeed. Leadville was almost named the capitol of Colorado instead of Denver.

I feel fortunate to have lived, hiked, fished, hunted, and explored that place in the world. Its unique for sure!

You gotta be dedicated and pretty resilient to make it there. Winters are long and cold and the altitude will wear on you. The year my wife and I moved into our house there we got about 450" of snow.

Listened again. Don't like it. A couple of cool parts but a weird song.

So none of you guys thought the kick was annoying? Weird.

I listened to it again and was trying to focus in on the kick but didn't notice anything weird. Was it too dry, boomy, etc.?

I actually liked how it was all over the place. For the record, I was one of those "anti-LOAD" Metallica fans so I wasn't doing well during the straightforward, 4-minute song period. I wanted things that took a bit more effort, had an imagination, etc. I can appreciate the LOAD songs now but struggled back then.

I think what I'm enjoying most with these songs is that you can hear, and see, that they are enjoying themselves and not trying too hard. I've been a Metallica fan since 85' and in my opinion these songs are some of the best they have ever had. They will never be as great as the songs we grew up loving, but these songs are better than anything since The Black Album in my opinion.

I agree with this 100%.

I'm still on the fence with the 3 new songs they've released. I need to listen a few more times to digest. Just the way it works for me most of the time. There are some songs/ albums I listen to for the first time and instantly fall in love but most of the time I've got to listen to them a few times through to know how I really feel about it.
