well i dug out the tubescreamer tonight........ WOW sounds awesome being slammed in the front with the ts. It is really tight like this. i mean REALLY tight.

just played one at the GC here in boston. Sounded pretty good considering i only have it on 10 watts on the red channel and barely any volume. could tell it had plenty more to give though, like more than bedroom level for sure. it sounded a little muddy to me but im sure it would have sounded way better if i had gotten to really open it up. it did seem to have a little less gain than the average recto but with a nice OD im sure it could get some good higher gain tones. Would love to rock one of these as a studio amp, or small gigging rig.

Yep the mini Recto can really be loud

Haven't notice the mudiness but lotsa factor could explain it

I was also expecting more gain out of these mini rectifier but as I don't have experience with Mesa's products I can't compare

Sorry to bump the topic up but 11justin22, have you tried it with a band? I will tomorrow (Thursday) and I'm curious if it will be loud enough.

Played one for 2 hours in the store the other day. Just couldnt walk away it!...Its definitely not like the real recto, but it does offer something different, and what it offers is Killer! The best yet of the lunch box amps!..great job mesa!

Judging by the clips, I am not all that sold on it...

I think your playing deserves a better sounding amp, if I am being perfectly honest!

Any suggestions:

Must cost at max 1000$ inludinfd taxes & shipping

Must weight less than 15 lbs and be easy to move around

Must be loud enough to play with a band on top of a 4x12

Must have a serie fx loop

Must have a good clean and modern tone (switchable)

Must not be made in asia

The Mini Rectifier offers all of the above

Fair enough.

sorry just seen this. yeah i've played several times with the full band. i have used it every weekend at church. its not grandmas church :D sounds really good so far. i've been using my homemade 1x12 with mesa mc90. had to slightly eq it a little different as i was getting lost a little bit. had to bump the mids a little and the treble slightly. at home it was a little boxy and bright like this at home, but with the band it sat really well. i am the rythem guitarist with occansional single note lines. i use plenty of effects, delay, and lots of modulation stuff. loop sounds better than the one in the stiletto i had.

i mic it by the way, wich is the way it should be done so it balances in the front of house. like this i have no problem with volume. pretty sure it would be loud enough without the mic. its pretty loud

Thanks 11justin22! My rehearsal of last week was canceled at the last minute so I have yet to try it with a live band. I hope to be able to do so soon.

Toss an MXR EQ in the FX loop.
Bring up the gain very slightly.
very minor adjustments will wake this amp up and tighten it all to hell.

It's almost a must.

I have tried that, haven't found any settings that i like so far. i have just been leaving it off and prefer it like that ymmv......

Played one of these at GC last week for a few minutes. It sounded really good for just twiddling a few knobs and jamming away. I was using a vintage reissue Stratocaster which really isn't the guitar I would use with this amp, but it still sounded great. Really ripping tone on the heavy channel. Good cleans as well. Would have souned great with some reverb on the cleans.
Great little amp. Pretty loud. I was in teh room so I cranked about all the way up. Had some volume. I was in a Mesa 1x12 cab so it didn't really thump too much, but it was a great rock tone.

hey BenoA do u have any noise/hiss on channel two when not playing? hadn't really noticed it until today. wondering if i got a tube going bad or i just never noticed it before. its not too loud, but noticable when not playing

Compared to my 6505 my Mini is dead quiet. Do you have some spare tubes to check yours out?

The mini recto is the first recto I was ever able to get a really good tone out of since I can't dial in a dual or triple recto if my life depended on it.

Played one today at GC through a Mesa 1x12. It was okay, I guess. Definitely not worth the $1000 price tag.
