Compared to my 6505 my Mini is dead quiet. Do you have some spare tubes to check yours out?

Judging by the clips, I am not all that sold on it...

I think your playing deserves a better sounding amp, if I am being perfectly honest!

As BenoA's bandmate and friend, the comment you just made is so right on the spot! I mean BenoA is so very humble about his playing and he shouldn't, he is so hard on himself sometimes... He is truly a skilled guitar player and a great human being, I would go at war any fucking time of the day with him!

Cheers to my buddy BenoA!! Can't wait for next rehearsal! We need some live gigs after christmas, damn I miss the stage!

With a nice set up, I would pay money to hear that.

It's all subjective of course, and what's most important is that he is a great guitarist.

called mesa.... they said send it to them its probaly something internal... guess i will be without for a few weeks. mojo needed

Hope you don't loose it for too long 11justin22. Mojo sent!

BTW, I'll take the time to report that I finaly tried my Mini with a band last evening.

I can confirm that, on top of a 4x12, it's loud enough for your regular bass+drums+guitar+singer rock quartet! No issues there.

I had brought a tube screamer with me in case I would have liked a lil' more gain but the Mini provided enough without having to cranck the gain knob past 2 o'clock.

Even on 10 watts, on the "modern" mode, it is quite loud when you cranck the volume. I does start to "compress" a bit too much to my taste but it is surprisingly loud.

As for the clean channel (I'm not a big user) stayed clean and would cut through the mix without a problem. Again, just roll the volume up!

And if you are like me and like your clean a lil' bit dirty, the "Pushed" mode does magic. Just switch to a single coil and roll your guitar volume to clean it up. Voilà!

Sadly, the cab I was using was a beat-up Fender 4x12 and it would bring the "fizzin' bees" a lil' bit compared to my Peavey TripleX cabs. I have a rehearsal this coming week with my other band (hey Mokaccino... Rock'n Roll!!!) and I'll be able to test it with a Mesa 4x12. Should be even more fun! I can feel some GAS for a Mesa 2x12 in the future!

So yes, that mini head can do the job with a band, except if you are in a very loud metal outfit... In that case I'd suggest to keep your 100 watts as your main weapon of choice.

For me, the 6505 remains in the arsenal, the Mini will just be my "go-to-easy-to-log-around" amp of choice. 12 pounds and cute carrying bag makes it very portable.

BTW, one thing that I did find funny was that I'm so used to play with loud amps (Marshall DSL/Peavey 6505), so having to roll the amp's volume around 1 to 2 o'clock felt weird. I know this is stupid, but yes, I felt "unusual".

Played one today at GC through a Mesa 1x12. It was okay, I guess. Definitely not worth the $1000 price tag.

That's my chief problem with it. I got my mint VHT UL with road case for $1K! So I can't ever see spending that kind of money for ANY lunchbox amp. Right now, the one I'm gravitating towards is undoubtedly the H&K Tubemeister. I've been seeing them for under $600 out there.

Easy to understand

H&K is made in China =600$

Mesa is made in USA

I have a TA-15. Those little amps are meant to be played loud into power amp clip. A lot of people just don't understand the concept of this, and judge tone by fuzzy preamp gain alone. Silly rabbit...

They're loud enough for a band unless you jam will a half deaf bass player with a 1000 watt rig.

Props for the great review and clips posted BenoA :2thumbsup: Nice playing

After demoing one 3 different times,(against the other lunch box amps), 2 hrs each time, i couldnt resist and had to buy one...I was only gonna use it for teaching, and learning songs at home, but by golly,I may just bring her to my next gig for my main amp!...way to go Boogie!....now, if we can get an updated quad preamp, or triaxis..itd be heaven on earth.

Awesome ! Enjoy, what guitar, speakers, pedals etc.... U using with it.

love the avatar pic!...I actually got one for a church worship team, and then for me..for the church, the head sits on stage, and the cab is miked in a back room- cranked waaaay up---killer tone for a worship team for sure...pedals w/ that rig are- wampler paisley drive, xotic bb+(these 2 are hardly ever gonna be used now), tc chorus,tc flashback, and sometimes a wacky effect, like robotalk or etc.......my mini rec is added to my boogie family of a MKIII red stripe coli,MK IV B,quadpreamp, and strategy 500 and boogie 4x12 cabs w/ metal grill era...Im lookng for another straight metal grill era boogie cab...ive owned a triaxis,v-twin,rack and pedal, roadking, studio 22,simul 295,2-90,and MKV....Like the post says, The New Mini Rectifier really does rock!

just played one at the GC here in boston. Sounded pretty good considering i only have it on 10 watts on the red channel and barely any volume. could tell it had plenty more to give though, like more than bedroom level for sure. it sounded a little muddy to me but im sure it would have sounded way better if i had gotten to really open it up. it did seem to have a little less gain than the average recto but with a nice OD im sure it could get some good higher gain tones. Would love to rock one of these as a studio amp, or small gigging rig.
I can assure you it has no less gain than the average recto. :) I own rectos including the mini and it goes head to head with its larger counterparts. In fact, I'd be impressed if you were blind folded and a large recto and the mini were played through the same cabinet, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. Now granted, at huge volumes obviously a 100 watt recto is going to be different than a 25 watt recto, but generally speaking, the 25 watts has no less the fury.
