Stryper rocks!

The singer in our band is a huge fan and Michael Sweet is one of his biggest vocal influences...last year he got to open the Stryper show near his home town (performing solo acoustic) and then sang "To Hell With a The a Devil" with them for the encore. A dream come true for him and he confirmed that all the Stryper guys are awesome dudes...

Here's Maurice killing it...

Here ya go....and right up the street a piece from me in Raleigh! Nice! What's your band?
Your bud did one hell of a job with that song man. That was awsome...and handled his business like a real pro.

Wow, just wow!!!

Love these guys. Sound as brilliant as ever.
Best effort from anyone lately...Stryper kicks it!!!!!!

I wish there was more stuff like this out these days !!
I dig it !!

It's funny though because I went to listen to a few of their older tunes and there is some catchy stuff and good riffing but my god (no pun intended), what cheesy horrible lyrics. For some reason mentioning jesus and love and majesty in a sentence seems so lame compared to chicks and cars! Did they go through a phase where they were trying to be less preachy? I saw a few vids on youtube without the bumblebee stuff and the lyrics were way less obvious and more mainstream.

In the late 80s/early 90s they got away from the overtly Christian lyrics - and it interestingly coincided with their decline in popularity. Of course, hair metal was on its way out at the same time, so not saying there was any divine influence on their losing popularity at that time :D

They write solid riffs, play great guitar, and Sweet is a definite powerhouse a singer. I actually prefer how his voice has matured. It's fuller and bigger now.

Agree. Sometimes his voice gets very high and nasally. It is sitting perfectly right now. As for the 90's, they killed just about everyone in that genre so I hope they didn't take it as divine punishment!
