Man everyone talks about how great this song is ,and how great Claptons solos are , and how the Beatles would not play it until George got everones favorite most most overrated lead guitar player ever to play in it .
But fuck me this bass tone is so heavy and Paul plays it heavy as fuck . Just thought it should be stated . But thst bass tone fucks hard

I've been a Beatle head since I was about 15. I'm also a bass player. McCartney was a bad ass for sure, but as far as tone goes you have to give that credit to Geoff Emerick. McCartney is notoriously not interested in gear, tone, etc.. He couldn't tell you what kind of strings were on his basses ( they were flats) and his memory is specious at best.

At any rate, for this song he is using his jazz bass with flats and it's recorded direct.

Not heavy at all, actually. Very light bass tone. In fact, it's so light, it's almost as if it's not there at all.

It seems your proofreading skills have crept into your ability to verify if a video you're posting is the correct one.

Perhaps this is the version you intended:

Yeah, I could barely hear the bass at all, couldn't tell it was there most of the song.

Also, by McCartney, do you mean Faux McCartney? The real one died long ago.

jokes aside, there's a bass in the first clips, start at 0.50...don't know if is Mc Cartney playing or others tricks in studio post production

I didn't watch the videos, but if you can't hear the bass in WMGGW you have significant hearing loss. lol

It's obvious you didn't watch the one Techdeth posted (and he apparently didn't preview it), because it's vocals, acoustic guitar & orchestra only. No bass, no drums & no Clapton. It's not even in the same key as the original version. That's what Shreddy Mercury was referring to.

Wayne has made me a bass overdrive pedal that will make you rethink your sentiments.

It was obvious when I said it. It was the first thing I said.

Also note the "lol" at the end of the post. :sneaky:

Well you’re def right . I have read about what he did due then . They needed his young ass to do things George Martin thought bad

Dude it’s super loud
You orally think it’s an electric guitar
He’s playing power chords on the bass . It’s very guitar sounding .

No, I have a decent sounding 5.1 system ( I also just listened to it with headphones on my laptop). I guess I just don't find a bass that sounds like the low notes of an acoustic guitar to be particularly heavy sounding.
