Just got the word...all guitars are being tracked with the Mark V on IIC+ mode. No Splawn, no Sansamp. Carry on.

I saw them at BB Kings in NY a few months ago. And it killed. Michael Sweet was using a marshall (jcm 2000 i think) and Oz was using the Mesa but that was live, so who knows what it was recorded with. It sounded amazing and these guys can play their asses off. First show I've ever been to that ended in a prayer.

I do...read the post before yours :poke:

Then they are back to using the Furmans in studio and probably the sansamp live for durability. So funny how these guys talk about how great such an such an amp is and then they go back to what they know like the rest of us. But a Mesa on it's own for those honky mids?

Any idea what pickups? That sounds like a JB in the bridge of that V to my ears.

Not sure what they tracked with, but live they are playing the hell out of their GMW's...

Anyone pay attention to the M3 Festival last year? I think they had recto's on stage, where most of the other bands used the house JCM 900s. . .

It sounds like they went back to the old tones? (which were really cool)
Did the drummer get there late for the vid??

I read on their fb page that it was 100+ degrees in the desert, where they filmed. It was getting late and they basically didn't feel like setting the kit up :gethim:

Thanks for looking into it!

Not that I doubt the info but just curious as to the source.

They always seem to come thru with good tones.. my best friend was on the kit for Michael when he was doing his solo stuff.I was backstage at the creation east festival with them. The other guitar player was Angelicas' Dennis Cameron.killer player in his own right..anyways it was all boogies then...I've heard all the songs off the new"No More Hell To Pay"... reminds me of t.h.w.t.d. era..good stuff!

Dunno that I like it. I was never a Stryper fan, style or song writing wise, but if you like it then cool.

Their Tour Manager/Guitar Tech is a close friend.

No Furman was used on the recording either...in fact they don't even have one anymore. It's all Mark V and whatever is done during production.

Whatever they used was rented/provided...they didn't do that gig with their normal back line. I actually thought that they were one of the better sounding bands that day.

No Furman?? Then they probably pushed those mid sliders way up on the Boogie to get that cocked tone. Either way, they are still bringing it. I always found their lyrics and choruses a bit cheesy but the rythm and lead playing are nothing to laugh at that's for sure. They can play.

Oz said a few years ago that he would just plug his Line 6 HD500 (I think that's what it was) into the FX Loop of whatever Boogie back line they had.

Beyond the playing, Michael's voice has kept up waaaayyy better than anyone else's from their era.

Must be all the praying?

I have always loved their harmonies and killer leads. Best tone they've had was on the Yellow and Black Attack album, especially "The Rock That Makes Us Roll", in the beginning before the guitar gets burried in the mix.
