I just got a Suhr Modern M8 in Bengal Burst.
It's a wee bit heavy for a basswood guitar, but it plays & sounds supa dupa...

Have you weight your guitar? Mine is almost 9lbs which is a lot for basswood. My other basswood super strat is 7lbs.

I haven't weighed it, but it doesn't seem very heavy....very comparable to my Alder/Maple neck Modern or my Honduras Mahogany/Curly Koa top /Pau Ferro neck Modern. But, all of them feel heavy compared to my extremely light African Mahogany "Satin" Modern.![]()
Here's a pic of my Basswood/Flame Maple top/Roasted Maple neck Modern:

That's a beautiful top.
I have a Modern satin as well & it weights under 7lbs. The Basswood modern weighs over 9lbs. I was hoping it would weight roughly the same as the satin, since basswood is normally a very light wood. Oh well.....![]()

Thanks.
Well, you got me curious so I went and weighed my basswood Modern on my bathroom scale. It came in at 7.5 lbs. My Satin Modern weighs exactly 6 lbs., as advertised by the dealer.
