Just to let you guys know.. Sylosis are going to be touring the UK and Europe with Killswitch Engage during April/May :rawk:

Sounds really good. The vocals are just a step too far for me. That music is right on the cusp of what I can put up with singing-wise. But the guitars sound mean! Very nice work!

I can vouch for that Orange v30 cab. Records so well and sounds massive.

Here's Josh playing some riffs/licks on his new Reverend guitar through the SYLOSIS Mod JCM800 :

Thanks man! Yeah the heavy vocals aren't for everyone, but i think Josh does it very well and it suits their music

that's one really thick crunch
I love how he uses just the right amount of saturation
not over the top like most hard rockers on this forum
do you know if he's using the booster on that video?

:D
Eric you faster than me!

Dan i was also wondering if he uses the maxon in the dying vine lesson, and which speaker too?

In his guitar, the reverend bridge pickup is 44 gauge, 13k and ceramic....seems close to BKP cold sweat no ?

first bright switch left, gain 2 at max, fell knob noon, clipping to left, bass 3 oclock, mid an treb at & oclock, pres and depth at noon, these are the settings to get 95% of sylosis tone with regular cali mod, according to Dan

what is the 'fell' knob?

you described the railhammer chisel pickup that comes in some reverend guitars, but those aren't the ones in their website
have no idea of the actual pickup specs in that guitar
the bk cold sweat is 43 awg plain enamel, offset coils and thick ceramic magnet
I remember mine had almost 15k
Josh has a holy diver in his les paul custom lite (short alnico 5, 16k, 44 awg polysol)

I love how they state "slightly hotter than a vintage PAF" being 13k and ceramic
13k seems a little underwound for 44 awg, though

Yup Josh always has the Maxon OD808 running for his heavy tones. He only switches it off when he's playing clean. Also in that vid he was using the V30 loaded Orange cab

BTW I was working on Josh's amp this afternoon and he told me that he is more than likely going to stop using the Maxon boost, as the amp really doesn't need it. His latest modded JMP already sounds/feels like a boosted amp. I added an 'EDGE' switch on the amp which kicks in as much extra gain/attack as a boost, so he's happier plugging straight in now

is the edge switch the diode clipping thing or does it add an extra tube stage? or perhaps some cathode bypass cap?

Neither :) The amp already has 4 gain stages, so it's all tube and no diode clipping at all. The Edge switch re-voices one of the stages and really makes the amp track much faster overall  Josh was jamming through it in my living room today, using my Burny LP Custom plugged straight in and the amp sounded insane!
