It's akin to taking a hit of DMT for chrissakes.

Thought many times listening to it “I’ve heard this riff before”. Yes, it sounds like Tool, but 13 years for something I couldn’t make it through without falling asleep is disappointing. $50 or whatever it was for the CD just made it worse. I feel like the angst is gone and with it went the inspiration. 26 year fan here just stating my opinion, not meant to bash or start an argument but 10,000 days was a perfect ending chapter.

Nah, you just come across as having hate in your heart and jumping on the Tool bashing bandwagon because it's trendy right now. Your claim doesn't hold water. Just because your expectations weren't meant, doesn't mean they missed they missed the mark. I don't want another angst-ridden 90s album. I'm past that. But apparently a lot of others aren't and are still living in the past and unable to embrace the future.Vin Diezel":27os9b6d said:RyeDaddy":27os9b6d said:Personally I feel like they took all of their previous efforts and mashed them up and released the product as this new album. Couldn't have said it better. They're just going through the motions, but it doesn't mean anything anymore. It's like they have become their own simulation. The real thing is long gone.
I don't blame them for having running out of new ideas. Who doesn't? I blame them for not calling it a day.
The last Zeppelin albums had new things to offer. Tool does not.

I had a longer post written out, but I think maybe it can be more succinct.
Every album from every artist guarantees that some fan leave the bandwagon. Others may jump on, though sometimes they don't.
This Tool album--like every other Tool album--is polarizing. Given the age of their average listener and general landscape of music today, it's unlikely that as many people will jump on the bandwagon as jump off... though I wouldn't be surprised if the children of Tool fans who are really digging this album, come to find this as their gateway into Tool. Because, guys, Tool is on the verge of being Classic Rock.
The listener market always evolves. Either it evolves with the band, or it evolves in a different direction.

This actually really irks me. Straight up behind-the-keyboard judgmental BS against a group of grown men doing something they love to do, that isn't hurting anyone, and that happens to still bring a lot of joy to millions of people. And you want to "blame" them for not stopping? GMAFB. They don't owe you a god damned thing. If you're so offended by them putting out this album, maybe just, you know, stop listening and stop caring. They're not for you anymore. Move on.
