New VH

Ive had it for a few days now and I can say it's probably the best comeback/reunion album Ive ever heard. All of my favorite bands from my youth like KISS, Maiden, Priest, Whitesnake, Dio/Sabbath, Leppard, AC/DC etc have all made very ordinary recent releases or 'comeback' albums in my opinion. As a big fan of the classic Van Halen sound, this pretty much ticks all the boxes (yes even the backing vocals) and I will go out on a limb and say it's also the best bass playing on any Van Halen album ever recorded. I haven't felt this way about a rock album for years and I can't imagine any true Van Halen fan would not absolutely LOVE this record.

I'm with ya. I'm fairly shocked they had this in them still.

Pretty much dead on how I see it as well.

I get my copy tomorrow, although I've heard the entire album. I'm pretty stunned at how good it is. I really wasn't expecting much after seeing Eddie's antics the last few years. Hearing this new album is doing what most previous VH albums have done to me....it makes me want to play. It reminds me of the reason I gave up drums at the age of 18 and taught myself guitar and piano. Eddie is the only reason I play guitar...end of story. I had given up on him and the band in recent years. I used to collect everything I could...magazines, cassettes, cds, videos, bootlegs, even owned a 5150 amp and combo at various times. That all went away for the last 5-7 years. I thank the band for trying to make this work, whether it was about money or not. I needed it for myself and appreciate it for what it is: a kick ass, hard rock album by a band that knows how to do it much better than any band out there today. Looking forward to wearing the hell out of it.

Roth has always been flamboyant/charismatic. So, now he's gay? And who cares if he is, really? Sounds like there's a few people uncomfortable with their own sexuality in here. :checkthisout:
Dave didn't realize until it was too late that was being ravaged by some shemale cyock!

I like the new VH so far. I think it's great to see these guys up on stage again - plus a new album to promote! I've never given a second thought to Michael Anthony. I've never thought of his playing skills as anything more than adequate. My guess is that whatever bass playing we're hearing on the new material was played by Ed anyway. The reason why MA was left out was due to Ed's sobriety only. Michael and Ed were the "Toxic Twins" of the west coast! :cheers2:

I laugh at all the forum know-it-alls (not just here) who just toss it up to "they should have retired," or, that it's just a money-grab. Come on, all of these people (VH/MA/DLR even Wolf to an extent) have spent their entire lives making music. I'm pretty sure they'd be doing it whether they were millionaires or not. But they should drop it all because someone on the internet finds it unacceptable. Too funny.

Maybe I can take those opinions a little more seriously after you've been in the music biz for 40 years or so, changed the landscape of rock music and guitar playing, developed completely new ideas regarding equipment and whatnot. Until then, it's just laugh worthy.

So by your logic,if you were around in the 60's,it would be ok for you to hate black people now even though that shit doesn't fly anymore? And how do you know what people are ok with?
^Best post I've read on RT

Most retarded post ever.
Black is a race. Gay is a choice.
Civil Rights Movement / Gay Special Rights Whining are not at all related by any stretch of the imagination.

I have found it to be funny as well...particularly when those that say they should hang it up have yet to hang it up themselves for several orders of magnitude less.

A choice bro? Are you certain of that?

I dunno... black OR gay would be ok, but if he chose to be both then I just couldn't buy the new cd

So if you thought Dave acted like a gay black guy on the new CD that would be why you wont buy it? Surely that's a joke right?

 This thread turned to shit, its now about a black and gay thing. What the hell happened?

I think you probably have it backwards. I think Ed played bass much more on the VH material from the past. This new record is Wolfgang.

I'm hoping Ed gets drunk and falls down, and finds the tone and touch he dropped.

Stick with the coding and forget any dreams of stand up. :D
