That guitar would make for some good firewood, it's freezin out. :D

I have a feeling that your Gibsons would provide a nicer flame, though. ;)

Yeah, probably because they're made of real wood unlike these plywood eyesores.  ;)

Too bad that doesn't make them sound any better.

Guitar baby diaper wiper Danny is still mad about the Charvel thread   :D

Nope, just happy i sold the thing locally  and just mad that i can't have Scotty beam over to NAMM.

Damn, wish I could call dibs on that, it's one of the better Ibanez's and it's my DOB year :D

Hope you enjoy it dude, most people would

When using the steel wool on the neck.

Did you rub the gloss finish totally off or just sorta roughed it up a bit?

For my friend who has a RG.

Totally got rid of it. I don't like that plastic feel. I much prefer feeling the actual wood.

I do hate most of them, but this one was real cheap and they do look great.

I would imagine the Amott factor had a certain sway as well ;)

If you strip the wood on an Ibanez Wizard neck, especially an old one like that without the reinforcement strip on the back - you better oil the shit out of it or you're likely to have all sorts of neck problems. Those things are so thin they were prone to it anyways, taking the finish off just invites warpage.

Big +1 on wishing the necks were thicker. I have a killer 570 in black that is awesome, but the damned thing hurts my hand to play. After getting used to an EJ strat and my 50s profile LP standard, everything else is starting to feel a bit thin. :(

Man, what an awesome guitar dude. Woah, i bet you'll never sell it cause those Ibanez are just full of teh tone.

I really need to just stop trying to get basswood to sound good, because it doesn't at all to me.

I think Basswood with a maple top sounds decent. I'm just going by the Ernie Ball Axis guitars which i think sound good and an Anderson i had with that combination of wood. I've never tried just plain Basswood.

Too thin sounding? Or just too plain sounding?

That is simple beautiful...what is it?

Anderson Drop Top Classic from NAMM. I thought it was in Translucent Plum but Tom said it's actually Cajun Magenta. The top has a very tight figure so it's darker than that finish usually is.

A bit of both. I just can't figure out what people like about basswood, it just sounds like garbage to me. I've even owned a basswood Anderson and it was dull sounding. :aww:
