Man, that's beautiful. Good info on how the roasted woods affect tone. I'm itching for a Charvel custom, I'm such a huge fan of them and own/owned tons of the older pre-90's MIJ stuff. Always wanted a USA Custom model, especially a nitro finished one. Thanks for sharing.
I try to share on this forum any info I know of from experience that I haven’t seen talked about much (or at all sometimes). I didn’t like Charvel’s much up until about a year ago, but was just because I hadn’t tried the right ones, but now they’re some of my favorites. I can’t recommend enough a roasted nitro one, but my non-roasted red one isn’t going anywhere either

Finish is super important. I had a guitar that ripped, but was an ugly color. I got it refinished and the guitar just wasnt the same. I regretted getting it refinished and sold it.
I’m sorry to hear that. That’s a sad story. You know exactly what I mean then. Isn’t it also pretty expensive to take a guitar in for a re-fin? I’ve not done it before, but that’s what I’ve heard

I’m still jealous of your green Charvel. Seafoam green is my favorite color for those guitars

@physcodave I am in a similar situation to you. I got into Charvels when I got my first Charvel Guthrie Govan a few years ago. I was blown away with that guitar, neck was the best I have ever played at the time. I had been through about half a dozen Fender CS strats, and the Charvel GG gave me everything I was missing with the fenders except that classic fender single coil sound. I ended up ordering a Roasted Alder body, Riasted plain maple neck, Black Nitro NOS HS PrePro Neck Charvel from MusicZoo with the 6 screw brass trem, and it is simply sublime. I agree with everything you say about these guitars. Still love my GG, but the roasted Charvel Nitro is such a great guitar. So good I have a few more on order!
