that's not a new car...I suspect many of the parts are unrestored and orginal...if there are new parts that are damaged intentionally and fake aged...same fakeness as a relic guitar.
In defense of Tom Murphy, his non-aged finishes are beautiful. His color choices and how he layers them are top notch. There's maybe six Les Paul lacquer shooters in the country that have that kind of eye, IMO. But Tom's aging team gets results that are terrible compared to other top shops. If he would just stick to non-aged finishes like when he started, few can touch him.
Ah yes, sometimes I forget we’re in the age of ‘just say whatever stupid shit comes to your mind, doesn’t matter how logical it is, you can just say something dumber or leave an emoji laughing face as a reply to not actually state your case”
At no point in any timeline, in any universe, are dents and chips in the finish of a guitar anywhere close to being “consistent” with someone faking military service. I’m not even a fucking bootlicker and I don’t know how anyone tossing that sentiment around doesn’t find it remarkably disrespectful to compare the merit of paint chips to anything related to servicemen putting their lives on the line or the fuckheads who pretend to do so.
Paint chips don’t claim “I have the balls to stand up for something I believe in and I’ll take a bullet for you”, they don’t earn you a discount at Denny’s, they say “Someone banged a screwdriver into me and some fucking retards on the internet will get mad over it because when they banged a screwdriver into their guitar it was a REAL ding and not a fake ding”
I like the light aged murphys...I have one of the originals done by tom by hand prior to the murphy lab. I like that its relicd because when I ding it or make marks, they just blend in.. great for ocd traits! Its my daily player.
Some guitars look better when it looks like they've been dragged behind a truck for a while. Some guitars look cooler when they look brand new straight out of the box.
It doesn't matter, it's about what you like. People who get mad about relic guitars are silly.
