Sorry man, that’s the gayest take I’ve heard in a while. “Earning” distress and aging? No less ridiculous than “earning” a different color or a faded pair of jeans. And comparing it to people impersonating Veterans is just jumping the shark![]()

what would you call fake / artificial aging and distress of a new guitar vs a guitar that was aged and distressed over years of use? The first guitar is a poser, made to look used on purpose; while the second guitar aged organically through years of use. Can't see the difference?
do you buy a new car, and have it purposely aged and distressed too? Add some rust, scratches, a few dents,...? Sounds ridiculous, right? But it's fine to do to a new guitar.
a relic guitar is contrived. enjoy the fauxness!
edit: it's your money, pay extra for someone to distress and damage your new guitar.
