Well the question I asked about shortscale 24 fretters is now moot because I went ahead and got this Kramer Glide B6

Definitely could do worse for $525

I have no idea which DiMarzios these are, but the bridge appears to be a PAF Pro

Paf Pro bridge, Paf Joe neck

I like the PAF Joe. The PAF Pro, not so much

Sweet axe! Now you're a part of the dubbel kreem krew.

I have a PAF Pro in the neck of a Warmoth with a Crunch Lab in the bridge. I dig it, but most of my DiMarzio pickups are PAF based, so not quite as hot as pickups a lot of guys on here would like.

Just bought a Super 3 to replace it lol

Yeah. I have it on my bench with strings off.

I'll restring and setup and tomorrow I'll change the pickups

Nice axe! And I agree, the PAF Pro is very meh indeed. There's a bunch of Dimarzio's that I do like; the Norton (bridge) would probably be awesome for bringing the 80's hair sizzle tone, without any thin or nasal qualities. It doesn't suffer from that cocked wah tone, that a bunch of Dimarzio's suffer from.

36th Anniv PAF neck is a solid choice; Air Norton (neck) if you need more push, liquid-shreddiness and one of the best coil-split tones too.
In the right (somewhat medium/dark sounding) guitar, a Breed neck is pure gold too. It was ok-ish in my (bright) Charvel So-Cal, but it was effin' perfection in my Gibson '67 RI Flying V's neck position. In the Charvel it brought too many jangly overtones.

I've never played the Breed Neck

I've played the Breed Bridge and thought it was too smooth lol

I’ll 2nd a Dim Norton in the bridge. I have one in a player 2 Strat coupled with a Dim Steve Morse in the neck. It’s a great combination in that guitar and both pickups split really well using just a simple mini toggle.

Yeah, I had the Breed bridge for a while too; it was too polite and smooth indeed. Missed 'hair on its teeth'. This is what the Norton delivers.
Even the Andy Timmons signature AT-1 does it pretty well, albeit slightly thicker and warmer than the Norton, but definitely not vanilla/bland.

I'm liking the Super 3 a lot
I've just checked the EQ graph on the Dimarzio website; it's very similar to the AT-1, but just with a bit more of everthing, especially output (435mV vs. 320mV).
You don't find it too bassy or loose in the low-end? I'd be a bit hesitant with a Bass graph of '10/10' when the guitar isn't overly thin sounding from itself.

I actually don't

There's a lot of bass, but it's actually tight. No flub at all.

It's like if someone cranked the bass on a PulTec and then made a hard cut at 80 afterwards lol

Schweet! That sounds like how I usually EQ-d kickdrums. ;-)
Couldn't stand that hollow basketball-in-a-gym tone from an AKG D112 mic. Much preferred the Audio Technica ATM25.
