NGD Caparison Dellinger 7 FX-AM

So earlier this year I bought a Caparison Horus FX-AM from The Music Zoo and just fell in live with it. It's an awesome guitar in every respect for me. Hardtail, black satin finish, ebony board, Humbucker/Single setup and I really liked the shorter 24.75" scale. So fast forward, Music Zoo reduces a mint used Dellinger FX-AM I just couldn't pass it up.

I've had it a couple of weeks, but just getting around to posting this. It has the same specs for body and neck as the Horus I have, however, it's a very bright sounding guitar, way brighter than the Horus. So bright that I've actually gone through several pickup combinations to try to tame it. But it's minor, I can also just twist the tone knob on a pedal or amp and takes that away.

Anyway, it plays great though.

Very nice. I'm a big Caparison fan, love the way the guitars play and sound. I really wish they would bring back a fixed bridge Dellinger II with the clock inlays. For your FX-AM did you put some inlay stickers on that?

Yes, I put stickers on the fretboard in that pattern, it's normally blank. I use the side-dot stickers, like the small dots. I have also put the same stickers on the Dellinger. They come of easy and cleanup so you never know they were there if/when I ever sale.

Have you tried a Tone Zone for the bright guitar? That was a perfect solution when I had the same issue.

Yes, I tried the Tone Zone 7 in a Skervesen that I have that is extremely bright, almost an all maple guitar. It worked pretty well.

Have you tried a Rio Grande BBQ bucker yet? I had the same issue with one of my guitars and the BBQ did the trick.

No, I haven't tried any Rio Grande pickups. I'll read up omg it. I've kinda went through my rounds of various pickup brands, but in end I landed back on Dimarzio for the most part.

Very nice man. I worked on that project when I was with Capa years ago. Fantastic guitars. For the money, they are really hard to beat in my opinion. Congrats!

I have wanted a Caparison for ages, but have never had the chance to try one in person. Can someone give me an idea of the neck shape. I have a number of Jackson, Charvels from the 80's and early 90's, also ESPs and Kramers and of course Ibanez RGs. So I have a good idea of the shredder neck shapes I like, but no real feel for expectation from a Comparison.

To me the neck shape is about the same as my Charvel Satchel. It's thicker than a wizard or any of the other skinny Ibanez necks, but definitely not a thick neck. I'd say if you like Jackson, Charvel and ESP, then Caparison necks will fall right in that mix.

I am constantly looking for very specific neck carves that work for me, and Caparison is on my list of interest. The best neck I have tried so far is my 91 Jackson RR1 professional, something about the Japanese carve makes it slightly better than the USA models. So your comparison gives me hope...ill keep an eye out for a Charvel Satchel, at least for checking neck shape. I couldnt see myself owning a Satchel model. I would own a Dean first..

I should'nt have clicked on this because I love the Caparison guitars and possibly will never own one,so I did it to myself and had to look ! Those are badass guitars there,you did a great job getting those fine guitars.
